Default Headlight Question "with or without base model"

I'm new to Scions and need some help. I need new headlights for my sons car. When looking at some models, they ask "base model" or "without base model". Can someone please tell me what this means or how to distinguish between the 2. Thanks!!

No difference with the headlights. Just make sure they are the correct year, as there was a slight update 2008 on.

it could be referring to the Spec Package as the "base model". The Spec headlights do not have chrome trim inside, but the size and bulbs are the same. I think Scion cancelled the Spec Package before the 2008 headlight redesign.

i think it is the other way round actually, i was researching the same thing.
the spec package was specifically a "less-than-base" package. Yes, it's confusing.
So the normal headlamps are the base and the spec package are the "without base" or "non base."

for the OP, the base have chrome trim on the eyebrow and around the low beam reflector and turn signal, the spec "non-base" versions were just black plastic on these spots.
they are both mechanically identical and will work interchangeably.

they had the spec package for a year after the redesign, near the end they fitted them with the regular refresh headlamps, which didn't have much chromed anyway.
