Default Help?!

Ok so I'm gonna bake my 08 tails. Is it the same as the headlights? 250 degrees for 15 min? I'm doing my 09 headlights. Kinds scared cuz I cuz got em brand new. Don't like the chrome in em tho . Gonna paint it flat black. Oh yea and does it matter way kind of paint I use? I got krylon flat black. Or should I use the kind for engine parts since I'm gonna add hids . Don't want it melting the paint or making it foggy

I believe you have to dremel the taillights open. I don't think you can just bake them.

HID's don't produce a lot of heat, they run colder than a stock bulb. I would sand, clean, use a plastic primer and a flat black.

The point of baking them is to melt the adhesive to pull it apart.

OP - check out a prohectir headlight retrofit DIY and it should show how to take the headlight apart. Check the tech section.

You cannot bake the tails! Only the Headlights. You will have to dremel the seal on the tail light, search for yellowhoodie's custom 08's thread and you'll see how to do that.

Just use regular paint to, no need for high temp paint.

Oh ok. U got the link to his thread? And I just ran into another problem. I got the apt and they won't turn on:/. It's either my switch cuz I might of broken it LOL or the wiring but I doubt it's the wiring. Is there anyways of using a custom switch for them?

Doesn't exactly tell you how to do it but here you go, https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...216562&start=0. Also I am pretty sure you could use whatever switch you want, you could just try to find the oem style switch to plug into.[/url]

Remove the bulb that came with the apts. Also remove the spare wire that is screwed on to the fog itself.

Don't lose the screw (LOL!)

Insert hid bulb into apt fog. Reapply screw to hold it in place.

Attach hid bulb wires to the hid ballast.

Then attach the remaining hid ballast wires to the APT/VRD fog wiring.

Bare in mind, that you'll probably need a relay harness to get power to the ballasts directly from the battery.

I have 2 pairs of hid kits. 1 on the headlights. 1 on the fogs.

When I have the car on, turn on the headlights (the fog light switch is already on, so it should turn on when the headlights are on) Only 1 pair of hids turn on. Thats because the draw of power is too much. So what I do, is turn the fog switch, off and on, and then they turn on fine.

So a relay harness should fix that situation.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Wats a relay harness? There's a block on one of the ends. I'm guessing that's what it is. What if my switch is broken will it still work?

Yea cuz like an idiot I didn't like the green lightsince everything in my car is red LOL. So I tried changing the bulb and broke it in the process. I even bought the illuminated door sills and swapped the LEDs

should have just blacked that light out, to many risks in such a small outcome that no one except the driver will notice. i agree the light is annoying because its green. but i do not see it half of the time anyways, im thinking about just painting mine i can tell when the fogs are on/off
