Default HELP... Lip Spoiler Installation (TC)

I just bought a carbon fiber lip spoiler and it did not come with instructions for installation.... I called the vendor and they had no real information... They just said screw it on and use 3M adhesive...

MY QUESTION: Do you think that since it is just a lip spoiler that maybe I could just use 3M adhesive to install it...? My concern is that sometimes carbon fiber turns yellow and then I will want to replace it... If there are holes I will have a problem if I need to replace the spoiler.

(I installed the B Pillar aplique and it uses a 3M adhesive and I can not see those coming off very easily.... It 3M adhesive would not work ... Any other ideas and are less permanent then drilling holes in my car??????????)

nope, i think they are your only options, you could do an industrial strenth velcro...
con to velco-someone could just rip it of
pro- people wont know velco is holding it there, and when you need to replace it (if you will), pull it off, put new velcro on the new one and re attach.

Anyone ever consider silicone glue? Really strong stuff, and it pretty much lasts forever. I's also easy to remove the spoiler afterwards using dental floss and then rubbing the residue off.

yeah, i've used silicon to hold many things on, including a rear bumper lip. i know this would be for your trunk, but it will serve the same purpose.

So.... silicon glue could be removable without damaging the paint???? I have some body shops saying - "hey it is carbon fiber so it is light the 3M double sided tape will hold it on and I have others saying that they want to put 3 holes in my trunk.

I may want to put a pedestel style spoiler on in the future if the Carbon Fiber starts looking bad so I do not want damage on the trunk that I can not cover with the replacement spoiler.

I am about to just say forget it .... However it is going to look sooooooo good!!!! I have all kinds of Carbon Fiber on my car...

Fast Eddie.... Thanks for the link... It is very informative - scares the sh*t out of me... but informative

That is one big hole they are making - I don't want to make a hole in my baby that I can not cover up BUT - gotta do what I gotta do

- ANYBODY HAVE THE TEMPLATE THAT IS SHOWN IN THE INSTRUCTION LINK FAST EDDIE REFERENCED? I have a Carbon Fiber lip spoiler from Vertexracing.com. I called Vertex and they do not have an installation kit.

You can get the template from Sparks http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...7&parts_id=632

Why don't you just have it painted red to match your car? Then you won't have to worry about it yellowing and it would probably look better too.
