Default HID on 2006 Scion TC

Quick question:

If you put HID into your TC, do you have to have them retrofit/custom fit first, or can you just plug the HID in? Because it seems too easy to just plug them in, and a bit costly if you have to custom fit it.

thanks in advance

There are two options...

The first... and favorable. Is to have a retrofit done with a good set of projectors to replace the halogen housings. HIDRetro.com is a good place that will do it.

OR

If you want to take the debated route... there are plenty of "plug and play" kits out there with bulbs/ballasts and such that will plug into your stock harness and use the stock housing.

This is usually argued as a bad idea because the stock housing was not designed for these types of bulbs and many people may see a lot of glare from the lights as there is no defined beam or pattern to them.

Check out www.hidplanet.com and www.hidretro.com for a lot more info.

Ack, you have any sites that you recommend to get Demon Eyes/Angel Eyes and HID from? I really can't decide whether ot get the kit to Plug and Play, Try to retrofit it myself(and I don't know much about cars lights) or get someone to do it for me. But the last choice seems like, for the same price, I could just get another part for my car.

If you're not too experienced in any fabrication, I wouldn't attempt the retrofit yourself. Maximus96 did one here on SL, and it looked to be a long process.

HIDRetro.com does a really nice job and uses BMW projectors and will also use the angeleyes. Problem is that the full retrofit with parts and labor will run usually $1k+. But they really are VERY nice and one of the only sites that will do top quality work. They will even find the parts for you if necessary. Or you can get them yourself and mail them.

I've heard that there are others on www.hidplanet.com forums that will do it as well. Would likely be cheaper than HIDretro. But I don't know for sure.

Personally, I would never go with the plug and play kit. But that's just b/c there is a lot of controversy around it and I love the look of projectors. They have a great beam pattern.

If you want plug and play ones. Take a look at sponsored sales.
