Default HID bulb installation question

I tried searching for a good 30 min and came up with nothing. I installed my HIDs today and it was cold out so I kinda just stuck them in the headlight housing. Later I realized that the bulbs were not in the same direction. Meaning that the white "filament tube looking" part outside the bulb was on the bottom for my passenger side. On the driver's side that piece was facing sideways. I hope I made that explanation clear.

Does it matter which way the bulb is installed in terms of light output/performance?

Yes, very much. But it sounds to me that the bulbs are in the correct way but your driver's side isn't twisted in all the way....or maybe the passenger's side. I'd say check to make sure there twisted in completely.

my left side is like that also after getting replacement at a body shop. Cant turn/twist to make it tight fit.

The bulbs are tight but they are not in the same way. Is there more than one way that they can twist in?

Nope. If I were you, I'd take 'em out and put back 'em back again just to make sure.

Do they both put out the same ammount of light and in the same pattern?

Its hard to say because my last car had stock HIDs with projectors so I'm not sure what non-projector HID output is supposed to look like in person. I'll try taking them out and putting them back in tomorrow. I'm just wondering on which side the white part of the bulb is supposed to sit (top, bottom etc.)

Mine are located at the bottom. Both are tight and flush.
