Default HID flicks?

I’ve read most HID threads around here but never heard of a problem like this happening. Do you guys think the HIDs “flick” sometimes? Because I have mine installed and I noticed they flick every once in a while. Somebody told me there’s a lack of current draw from the battery (+) or ground that’s why it’s happening. Maybe it happens when the subs make a “bump” on a song’s bassline? What do you think is the solution for this?

I made sure all the connections are tight and secure. I also used a relay harness provided with the HID kit.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :D

What HID kit did you use and where did you get it?

I'm happy with the HIDs. I'm just concerned of that issue.

Yeah, happens with when bass hits. Do you really think a capacitor will help? Or maybe just upgrading the "Big Three" for best ground flow?

This didn't happen when I was using 9005 halogen bulbs on my low beams...

If you read through the thread...it says they are shock resistant so maybe use a foam behind the module and YES, get a capacitor...it helps ALOT!!!

I just bought my set from him...don't forget that they come with a warranty

mine flicker. i think its like a bulb check thing though.. they just do it at any time..

caps dont do jack IMHO.. i've had several of them as the car audio install guys say as well.. i did a test w/ a 3F from work and didnt gain ANY db or stop my lights from dimming or keep my V constant.. results were the same w/ no cap.. only time i noticed a difference was w/ a red top and 0 ga wire..

Yeah maybe it's just a bulb check. I observed again earlier and it only happens once for both HID bulbs. Maybe 10 minutes after I turn the HIDs on. I just thought it goes with the bass because I was sleepy last night when I noticed it.

I think the best way is to do the "Big Three" upgrade with 0 AWG wires. Just to be sure. :D

My flick before but not anymore. I had a problem with the wire that connects to the bulb. When the wire was in a certain poisiton, the HID flickered and even die on me. I tied the wire to a position where it won't cause the HID to flicker. Just moved the wire around to see if the HID flicker.

Yeah, just make sure all your connections are tight and secure. Don't turn it on without double triple checking your install. :D

Just make sure all connections are tight and secure. If not, there's something wrong with the kit itself.

Check the ballasts too. It might not be held tight.

Yeah, mine blinks 10-15 minutes after I turn it on. I got used to it now. The left blinks first then followed by the right in a split second. But after that, it doesn't happen again. I just thought it is caused by my subs when the bass hits. I think it's a signal that the ballasts are done energizing and is now giving out 100% of power. IDK but maybe... :D

It's exactly the same for mine, except it's like 2-3 minutes and yup, left first, then right. I wonder if it's our car or our HID kits. I did go out and wiggle the wires, and no, it wasn't the wires.

I bought the O-Nex kit, but maybe we have the same ballast. What is your Imax and Iaverge on your ballast?

I'm on vacation for the weekend at my grandparent's place and I left my car back at home. As soon as I get home I'll let you know.
