Another friend of mine gave the kit to me, and it didn't come with a connector to the stock harness, but he told me it was normal that they don't. I thought it was weird that it didn't. Is there one I can buy separately? Or is there a way to take it off of the old bulbs? Also, why is the ballast placement bad? Where's a better location? Thanks

chinese based ballasts without the male plug but two spade connectors instead?
most manufacturers come with those unless you are a retailer, mod them and charge twice the price for it.
HID kits average sales for retailers are within the 50-60 range and with a profit. it is retailers that jack up the price because according to them they are "reliable" thus because of such "reliability" their prices are 150+ and some even charge over 250.

those are ghost spots that halogens make.
With HID's, they're more pronounced and it becomes a problem as they're the main glare issue.
That is caused by the way light is emitted, hitting the bottom reflector and it will shoot upwards above the cutoff.

^ there's one bad hotspot. Try lowering the driver's side down because that should be enough to even ____ truck drivers off. Also, im sure you and I know the settings of the camera are misleading and also the ghost spots are more pronounced.
I would have used some rebased D2R bulbs instead of D2S if i were you.

Well I got the kit for free so I'm not complaining about the connectors lol. I'm just going to use some insulated electrical male/female connectors and some heat wrap just to make sure everything's good. Where's a better spot to mount the ballasts? It would seem that everywhere in the engine compartment would be prone to mositure.

The glare isn't that bad.

Had my homie follow close behind me in my ride...

Looks way worse in that pic than in person.

first of who ever said that HID kits could go for 50 bucks prove it. a buddy of mine has sells really good kits (pm operatic) that come with connectors to multiple different bulbs types, a relay, 1 year warenty and FREE overnight shipping for 140 and i think he has a sale now for 130. i think thats a hell of a deal considering the shipping would be about 30 bucks (thats min too) and the relay would cost about 25. i have his kits (ie real kits minus projectors) in my lows highs and fogs and i havent had 1 issue with water or shorting out, i mounted the ballasts behind front bumper and under the greddy radiator cover, and inside the engine bay next to winshield washer filler and on top of fuse box. if i where you i would chek him out, link is in sig

wow - just saw this thread.

ScionSean - that installation is downright dangerous. I will actually DONATE two plugs so you can hook that up properly. Just PM me your address.

Also, yeah, there are some kits out there that sell for super cheap but you get what you pay for.

davedavetc - does operatic also sell on eBay? isn't this his kit selling for $80 shipped? Looks like it's even the same image...

do you know the business of hid kit resellers?
They buy a bunch at low price then go to websites, become sponsors and sell them for double or tripple the price. You guys fail to realize all kits come from the same place and there's no such thing as "quality kit that is much brighter than ebay kits" because they are the same. The cheaper ones are just sold directly from the manufacturer without any middle man involved.
