I have been using the standard Sylvania 9005s as my low beam bulbs and fogs for over 3 months now with no harness issues and those have a higher wattage than the 9006s do,
Thats why it sounded a bit fishy to me as an EE, that a 4W diffeence would eat up a harness.

I'll still take a look at it, but I'm still leaning towards the bulbs as the problems.

Maybe its not a current draw issue but an issue of connector fitment? Loose connections causing the arcing and thus melting of the plastic in the connectors? I'm no EE but I did take a few electronics classes way back in HS and know basic electrical theory.

I found one of the articles I was talking about: http://www.bmwcca.org/members/AM/Tem...6_Light&page=2

I highly suggest reading this if youre thinking about buying Silverstar's, you'll be sadly dissapointed.

If you can clip your nails, you can modify 9011/9012's in about 2 minutes.

You also get 17% increased light output over stock, not 23% below with a strange light pattern.

I have been running these bulbs for almost a year with no problems. The stock wiring can easily handle the extra draw of the HIR bulbs. The stock wiring on my Tacoma handles a 90/100 H4s without any problems. I actually get more light output from the HIR bulbs than I do my 90/100 H4s. The Tacoma reflector sucks though.

Can someone post a picture of these HIR bulbs in use on a Tc??? The link to the previous pictures isn't working...

Thanks!

if your curious on what color they are, they are the ugly stock yellowish color. but they give off SO much more light. its funny cuz one of my friends actually thought i had HIDs. basically, if you want these for color, don't get them, but if you want about 3/4 light output of HIDs at a 1/4 price of HIDs than get these.

Hmm... might be interested in this. It's just weird that if these bulbs are so much better why haven't more people tried this?!

I will try to get pics tonight.
As for the 9005 replacement, use 9011 bulbs.
low beam/9006 use: 9012
