Is this not what insurance is for? Pay your deductible and you're done.

I had to get my rear bumper fixed last year the same way.

yeah you cant just replace that panel, so paying your deductible would be the best bet.. maybe..maybe a good body shop and/or a PDR?

Ouch! Sux to hear. Well like others have said, if you have a good deductible on your insurance its best to go through them.

This is exactly why I have low deductibles ($200/$250)... and exactly how high deductibles (for the purpose of a low premium) can bite you in the ___.

^always try to keep your deductables down to the $250 range.........it is easy to find $250 but $500-1000 deductables........well not a lot of us have that kind of money just waiting in the bank for a rainy day screwup......

Insurance will cover it if you filed a police report and your car is covered.

If not then get as many estimates as possible. Anything over a thousand bucks for that dented panel and you're getting robbed. I give a 750 dollar estimate on that dent because that's what it looks to be a dent and some minor scratches. How in the hell they destroyed that panel and missed your door baffles me, but look on the bright side, if they'd hit both panels, the damage would have been considerably higher, at least a grand.

Dude was probably wasted.

yeah i know but since my parents are paying for my insurance which they are ____ed right now. (which it wasnt my fault at all ). i know if i was to report my insurance would go sky rocket high . so im trying to see what my other options are. since my friends and love ones will be contributing most of what i will need to pay.

Actually most insurance companies wouldn't raise your rates for this (I know Progressive doesn't). Like I said above, I had this happen with my rear bumper and the agent said it wouldn't affect my rate at all since it wasn't my fault.

i know i was wtf. why is only back there wen if u was to hit smothing you would need to hit the door panel too. but yeah im also glad that they only hit that because since i am on a budget the cost of repairing it will be cheaper.

Well you need a whole new 1/4 panel, that isnt going to be cheap. They cant just unbolt it and put a new on in, so you are really better off convincing your parents to go through insurance.

do those pdr actually work?
i was doing some research and the dent has to be a size of a football or a basketball.. as you can see my dent is huge compared to a football or a basketball.

i knew it. but my twin sister conviced me not to file a report while we were in vegas. ____! she told me that our premium would go up. and that she would help me pay for the damage. so what should i do now?

I think you can still file through your insurance.

My friend got hit in the 1/4 panel and it cost him like 1500 or more to get if fixed, just to give you an estimate. Could be less could be me more.

You don't need a police report to go through insurance (though it may have helped given the situation)... but judging from the damage it does look like someone hit you (and not the other way around) so it really shouldn't be a problem.

yeah well PDR's can get some really unique dings out. It is usually mixed on what they are capable of though. Creases give some trouble but a good PDR/bodyman can do wonders...the only reason i would recom. that is because, usually it is a main/welded part of the body and has to be cut/patched instead of replaced.
