Default How long to wait for body work?

I got into an accident with my 06 NBM tC. Right door and right rear quarter panel definetly need to be replaced, don't think anything beside that is broke. Any idea how long I might be without the car?

sry to hear about the accident...but moocat, in all honestly, how in the heck would anyone here know? are you looking for an estimate? i'd assume that you coulda/shoulda asked about the "down time" period with the company fixing your car.

Damn.

I'm just asking because I'm sure other people here have gotten into accidents and would know.

yeah it took really long...the body shop said it took a while to get parts from toyota. maybe they were just making excuses...who knows. but it all depends on where u take the car to be fixed. it should take anywhere from 1-1.5 months.

BUTT...i wasnt mad at all..because when i got my car back from repair..the hatch rattle was gone!!! maybe cuz they also needed to replace the rear windsheild because of a chip on the corner of it...but i was happy about that!!!

It all depends on time to get the parts. Remember it's a new car and plus they make them in Japan not in the USA. So i think all repairs parts are imported also. So it takes time if there not in stock. But other then that it should only take 6-8 if they had all the parts. One more day for paint and inspection.

okay man i should be able to give you an estimated time being as i work in a bodyshop.

Left door and left quarter are actually fairly easy to replace if the body man is any good at replacing panels. The actual process of replacing them should only take 2 days.

The biggest wait time is waiting for parts from the factory. you could easly wait 1-2 weeks for a part to come. And if your unlucky, your part will come damaged beyond repair (it happens ALOT)

As for paint and prep work (thats my department) it will take one day to prime and paint the car...maybe two if the painter is lazy and is taking his time.

Then one more day to put everything back together. It should only be 2 weeks tops to do your whole car...the only way it will take longer is if the parts are slow getting there or you get a damaged part.

i totaled my whole rear quarter panel and part of my sideskirts once. it took them about just over 5 days and about $1500 in repair. some places wanted nearly $2000 and about 14 days!!!
