Default THIS is how you work on a tC....!

Adding some more toys to the baby and working on my supercool ultimately nifty mod, so had the tC taken apart a bit...

Upgrading to a six strobe kit, after my 4 strobe melted on me due to bad placement and crazy heat at a show... so the tails and under the car get to flash now...

And have the front all apart to get room to fab up and make some of the neccesary measurements for my hood modification, which is bumpy, but plugging along...

Here's some fun pics...

The Front All Apart....

Working on the strobes in the tails

All pieces everywhere....

Tons of wiring for the nitrous control (Arm, Purge, AutoOpen) in the change holder and strobe controls.

That's tommarow, when my hood isn't doing what I want it to... or for some god forsaken reason, my strobes freak out on me... got Scion Exposed this weekend up in Seattle, so want to get a few things done before then...

It worked perfect and lifted up and forward... just not enough... I need a few more inches to clear the front bumper, as it sticks out much more than I really envisioned... It's close... just have to recut the hinge assembly and test it again... fundamentally, it was in there, mounted and worked... just not to where it'd make me happy.

must be using one of the Autoloc forward tilt hood mech. Those are cool when they are done.

If I remember correctly, Tim was fabbing something up on his own.

I want to put in a 6 strobe kit to draw some attention to the car at shows and stuff like that. I've got a question or two for you.

you said that you melted some things. Where exactly did it melt and how are you redoing to to prevent it from happening again? IIRC you put the strobes in the parking light area and in the reverse lights. Where are you putting your final 2 strobes? Is it possible to mount the strobes somewhere under the dashboard to strobe the front footwells or do they get too hot and will melt the plastic found there?

I fried my original control box for my 4 strobe kit...

The reason - I had it mounted in my center consol, with NO airflow at a 100 degree show... it simply overheated and blew a component inside.

My new mounting location for the 6 strobe kit is under the front driver's seat, which has much more ability for the unit to breathe as well.

My lights are mounted in the front parking lights, rear reverse lights, and in the front footwells (Ziptied).

The lights don't get really hot at all... it's the control unit that solely needs a bit of air around it.

(It's a pain in the butt to wire too) I suggest the LiteGlow HID100 (200 bucks on froogle)

approximately what are the dimensions of the control box? I already have some things under my seats, so size is a consideration when mounting something else under there. Would it be possible to velcro it to the carpeting under the seat or would that cause problems?

crap, i think that may be a little too big... I'll have to check the measurements tommorow when I get a chance.

if that doesnt work, hmmmm.... think the cables are long enough to mount the box in the trunk in one of the foam storage bins and be able to strobe the headlights? I would hook a computer fan to it to keep it cool.

lol...I did something to mine at one time but it was missing everything but the dash board on the inside as well. It's cool you doing it all yourself though.
