is it important to do this step for mudguards?
i bought mudguards for my TC and it says int he directions use 3M Prep Solvent-70 to clean the front body panel? wtf? i thought i could just screw these bad boys in? some one help me is the Solvent crap really a thing i have to do ? whats the consequences?
Its the easiest thing to do. Just put some painters tape where you need to drill, put the mud gaurds where they need to be, take a sharpie and mark where you need to drill, drill, and put the flaps on. easy as that...the instructions will show you.
the front is easy... just screw it in.. i didnt clean it... or anything...
the rear... i guess you have to take the wheels off... so i threw the rears in my trunk... and i didnt do it... i've been driving around with them in the trunk for a while now..

ill probably just wash it with soap and water and not worry about it. what am i actually trying to get off? do you really have to take the back wheels off to install the mud guards?
tht sucks if you do. oh well more work then i feel like doing. oh well
You can take off the rear bumper. That's what I did when I installed my Mud Guards. Of course, I was also installing my red TYCs at the same time. Killed 2 birds with one stone.
Just prep the area with Windex. That's what I used.
ok windex sounds good to me. lol i dont even really know what the hell its suppose to do take dirty off? or what? oh well and i guess ill have to take the wheel off. im off to go and do it.
I was able to drill the holes with the rear wheels still on the car. You will be drilling on an angle, but you can do it. My only suggestion would be to us a very small drill bit to make a pilot hole first because if you're not careful drilling on a angle, the bit will try to skate sideways and your hole might be too close to the edge.
I just run with my fronts. I bought my guards used from a guy that put a body kit on his car so he couldn't use them anymore. He lost the screws and U-shaped things so I didn't put them on. The back behind the rear wheels doesn't get too dirty and I mainly got the guards to keep the sides clean. It works well for that and like the clean line of the rear wheel wells.
