Default Installing some DRLs

I've been thinking about adding a strip of LED running lights to my '08 tC.

Anyone know where I should tap into the power for the DRLs to be switched on when the ignition is turned on or when the car is started?

Thanks all!!

Easiest way is to get some T taps from your local auto parts store. tap into the positive running light wire from your cars amber sidemarker. you can power both from one positive, or you can take the clean route and tap each side for the strips. just make sure you wire the negative to the bolt that connects the fender to the engine bay. pretty simple enough, right?

Thanks!!

But would the DRLs come on when the ignition is turned on/engine started or wired to the parking lights?

They'd come on when your running lights are on. Keys technically wouldn't even have to be in the ignition. That's the best way it would be done. Also, the most straight forward. You could always tap into the ignition column, or some other fuse that is drawing power when your key is in the ignition. But for DRL's, if your car is only started up, and not moving, what is the use, right?

The easiest way would be to T tap them off your side markers from your headlights. That's how I have mine done. I would be glad to take photos for you, but I have hidden all my wires, so there'd be no possible way I chould show you how mine are hooked up. But here is what mine look like. They're only tapped from the drivers side side marker.

Hey Jaz,

Thanks for the tips. I was looking at those headlights that you got installed but didn't want the "halo" lights because it was too much overkill for my car IMHO, so I was not going to hook those ones up. Those LEDs you have in your headlights look bright enough like the Audi's.

I'd much rather tap in to the wiring where I can get the LEDs on when I turn on or start the engine rather than having to turn on my parking lights. I guess I'll have to do a trace from one of the schematics (here I go digging again).

Thanks for your help, your ride looks pretty sweet there. Where'd you get your headlight assemblies from by chance? And hows their customer service?

Not to be a dick, but

They look nothing like Audi's nor are they nearly as bright.
