I wanted to change my led lights to a white/blue color and was wondering what the laws are in New York state for such a modification? This might sound stupid, but how do you change them as well?

 

If you get it white your ok but if u put a blue u will get pulled over like i did. they say that a blue liek is"inpersanating a cop"

 

The Lexus have rear license plate lights in that color. You shouldn't have any problems.

1. Open the hatch and pop off the 2 plastic pieces that match.
2. Twist (using your hand or needle-nose pliers) until the sockets 'pop' out.
3. Replace bulbs with other bulbs/LEDs and put back together in reverse order.

yea blue may look cool but cops get mad when you try to be "cool" like they are.

 

i got my flank LEDs off ebay. and they work really well.

 

any flank ones will shine really nice and bright.

white is the only color that's pretty much legal.

b/c of the lighting placement in our license plate led holder things are like this, its really bright since it shoots directly down on it

They are bright white. and are much brighter, i think, than the superbrightleds led that i had before.

 

yeah i have the 'white' superbirghtleds in mine, and they're more blueish white than pure white and are lacking in brightness..not so 'Super Bright' if you ask me! i crack myself up! jk.. but seriously..i just saw the flank LEDs and bought them

 

hey tophers, if you are talking about he 6led ones. . yeah its a HUGE diffrence

 

yeah I had those multi-directional bulbs...they blow.

 

do you have some comparison pictures of the flank bulb compared to a standard led. I have the pure white led's from Superbrightleds and I still want something that is little brighter... hoping someone can post some side to side comparison pics.

 

i haven't gotten the flank ones in yet, but ill take a picture of my SuperBrightLED bulbs tonight when i get off work and post'em up for ya...

 

Just got these put on my car, and they look great! pure pure white, absolutely no blue tint to the led's at all, much whiter and brighter than my previous led's.

i got took a pic of mine finally. I use the wedge LEDS mentioned above. I got rid of the superbrightled ones, they sucked. I think these are a much brighter white..
