Default Make an upper grille out of a lower one?

I met a guy at a meet who said he made his upper (debadged) grille out of a lower one. Has anyone done this, or know of any write-ups on it? Thanks.

I tried doing it and it was ok but I could never get it to fit right, I don't think it's that hard but I did it without any pictures and I guess that was the problem. I had no directions and ended up throwing it away cuz I won't drive around with it.

It's much easier to do it if you'll remove the front bumper. I fixed mine by removing the double-sided tapes and replacing them with wire ties for a sturdy fit.

I did the OEM debadged grille mod a while back. All I needed were scissors and 3M tape. A dremmel will make things a lot easier tho.

What I did was cut out slits on the bottom of the grille so the chrome trim will fit tight, then used 3M tape to secure the grill on the car. There is another way by cutting the side to place the grill inside the chrome trim and then 3M it to the bumper. PM me if you want more details....Here was my grille. I did mine a little differently than the DIY post and think it looks better without the bottom of the grill showing.

^^ True dat! The grille looks better if the bottom of the grille is hidden. That's how I did mine too. Just a plain honey comb grille. :D

For those who made it, do you have any pictures of where to cut, and where to apply adhesive tape? Thanks.

myb if you used some logic and looked at this realistically, u'd figure that $65 is actually nothing for a DIY grill. i don't manufacture these in a machine, i do these myself with my bare hands. to buy another oem grill to give out would cost me about $50 shipped each time someone buys one....plus the chrome piece, i dont even wanna go there, cuz u need to purchase the top grill with it cuz it comes together. so its not worth it. the best way to do it is for ppl to send it to me.

supplies, which include zipties, the 3m molding tape, screws, etc, costs about $14, shipping itself is about $16. plus, the $$$ paypal gets, there goes about $3 or $5, the time i waste doing it. thats already about $35. and i'm making about $30 on a grill. sometimes even less. which honestly, isnt much profit, cuz it's not like i have ppl sending me their grills left and right, which i completely understand, cuz most ppl don't do things on their own on here and don't even know how to take a grill off, so thats understandable...i'm not bashing on those ppl...it's just i understand that it's more convinient to just buy something and have it sent to u ready to install, but u gotta keep in mind that i put this mod out there so that everyone can DO IT THEMSELVES...it was something that i rigged....not something that i was advertising.

but then along the way, i realized that a lot of ppl on here...like u...are ignorant and dont appreciate anything, so i took off the DIY..and sometimes i feel bad about it, cuz u ruined it for everyone else that did deserve it. i could care less if i dont sell any of these grills...this isnt my business.

honestly, i dont know what's ur problem with me, but i just think ur just being a little inconsiderate. we argued...then we quit, and now u had to open ur mouth again. i dont understand.

1up FTL huh? come down to miami and we'll show u 1up ftl alright.

I actually sold my debadged OEM with chrome trim for $85 on here! so $65 isn't bad at all considering the lower grille by themselves are going for $40+ on eBay.

Yeah what was said was somewhat inconsiderate. The purpose of my original post was to find out for myself how to do it, hence the name "DIY" Grill. I guess I just get a personal satisfaction out of doing these things myself, with my own hard work. So, I guess if anyone wants to give pointers, I would be greatly apprciative, but lets not start a flame war in the process.
