The reason why it doesnt seem like its illegal is because most cops wont bother wasting time pulling you over for something so pointless unless you are actually blinding them
why is it illegal to put in aftermarket hids if they are 4300 on a car that doesn't come from the factory with them?
It's a DOT issue. They don't like it when you mess with OEM (DOT approved) lighting equipment.

Thank you papispico ... I was really excited about the first mod, and the ones to follow, I didn't expect to get all of this. To be honest, I don't care about the legality ... and I do care about the other drivers ... which is why I have made sure that they are pointed correctly ... and he's right ... the new cars on the road are much worse than this thing will ever be.

I'm sure you guys have noticed the pattern, ever since yanki got started on his projector kick he has been a big negative in almost every hid thread. The projector crusader. Just don't pay attention to him and move on like hopefully he will. Most people would like to have projectors, but its not always feasible, get over it.

I don't care at this point ... unlike a lot of people, I build my car for me ... I didn't post the pictures asking for advice, or whether you guys liked it or not ... I am not trying to be a jerk, but I honestly don't care about opinions ... I was sharing because I was excited about the mod. Life continues though, everyone is entitled to their opinion, I did my time in the military to ensure that, and god bless those are still out there ensuring that.

peace.

No but seriously, get a Relay harness for your HIDs. I know it's only 35w to run, but the initial charge draws 1.5 times more than the stock harness thus increasing the chance of wire meltdown. It may not happen, but why risk it? The harness cost about 20 to 30 bucks. Clifford sells the kit with harness in the sponsor section for the same price as an ebay kit that has no relay harness.

Wow I'm just joind this site and i see this stupid reply...
Shame on this forum...
You do realize a ballast draws 12V from the car then an HID bulb only needs 35Watz to give an output 10X better than a sucky 55W halogen.
Look at your own kit and read the label on the ballast.
Man that guy is a moron...
ALso,about other drivers on the road. Blue light fatigues your eyes and halogen housing are not meant to carry HID bulbs due to the lumens a simple halogen reflector is capable of (halogen = 700 lumens, HID = 3000 lumens). That's why you see that crazy ufo-looking light on your wall shots in comparison with your halogen with has less than that.
I used to own an Audi but couldn't afford it and bought my tc which i love. Light output sucks so my f irst mod will be a retro!
projectors = 100
ballasts = 100
Bulbs = 30
Overall, 230...pretty much the same cost you guys paid for your kit, huh?

if you know someone who works for an acura dealership you can get the tsx clear lenses for 100 a set. I used to know someone back then but he says he'll get me a set for 100 bucks. So that's not bad really...
ballasts I can use the bmw D2S, D2R and D1S...the older models with everything and they cost about 100...
used bulbs my friend can get me as well...30 bucks
Or you can find some luck on ebay. I saw tsx projectors being sold at 120-110 lately with free shipping.
the thing is that when cars get serviced for any defects at a dealership, the mechanics can grab the exchanged parts for free. Then, they can part it out and sell them.
