My tC has a hitch installed
I know the manual suggests not towing, but I hoped that towing a small trailer with my racing go-kart would be ok for a 2900lb/160hp car. With a properly balanced load and appropriate tongue weight, I can barely feel the trailer. The braking is diminished and the acceleration is poor, but neither was bad enough to make me look for an alternative.
U-Haul sells a tC-specific hitch that mounts in 10 minutes using 4 bolts and existing holes. The receiver is barely noticable and I'm very picky about that sort of thing. I'll post in the future as I accumulate more trailering miles.

I wouldn't ever get one on my tC (no need)... but I'm curious what it really looks like. I just can't picture it with the rear of our cars...
I'll post a pic when I get home tonight. The bar itself is tucked up behind the bumper cover so that only the small square receiver is visible from behind. This winter I will cut the receiver off and have it welded on vertically (its parallel to the ground now and it will be perpendicular) so that it will also be completely invisible behind the bumper. J-shaped ball supports can be used instead of the straight one that is most often seen.
