Default My TC is Totaled

I got hit on the freeway by a nissan. He was going about 50. He was going so fast that I was shoved into a car in front of me.

This is my second totaled TC in 2 years...both black.

Does anyone know how to take the factory installed Pedestal Spolier off? I got the 4 nuts off of the posts that go through the deck lid. but no matter how hard I pull up on the spoiler I can't break it free from the deck lid!!!!

There seems to be some sort of double backed sticky tape stuck down. But how in the heck is it so strong????

HEELLLPPPPP!!!!

I need the spoiler becuase my insurance company sucks AND I plan to buy a Black Sand Pearl YARIS typs S sedan.

Hmmm...why isn't insurance covering your car. I mean 50 is normal speed for a freeway, but he did hit you. (unless you cut him off then you are at fault - but 9 times out of 10 there is no proof you cut him off).

using 'you' in general terms.

i must believe there is some direct correlation between the tc's demographic and the high percentage of tc's involved in accidents.

almost every tc i see has some kind of body damage (except mine).

is it because of the blind spots? or is it because kids are driving them like race cars...when they're not.

yeah, if you got hit from behind then his insurance should cover it all....unless you cut out in front of him. which sounds like it may be the case, since he was on the freeway and obviously going fast. I can't imagine you traveling at a constant speed in your land and this nissan just barrelling up from behind and ramming you.....

There is. Much of it is too much offensive driving (speeding, cutting lanes, etc), and too little defensive driving skill (leaving enough space between you and car in front, leaving yourself an "out" in case of a lane incursion, not yielding to the chatterbox soccer mom not pay attention in her SUV, etc).

brassscorpion is leaving a lot out of his story, however, it's fairly common for freeway traffic to stop or slow to a crawl and an idiot comes slamming into stopped traffic because they weren't paying attention.

Default Okay...the story

I was on the 710 Long Beach freeway heading toward the Vincent Thomas bridge...on X-mas night. A person in front of us about a mile or 2 up the road got a flat tire and decided to stop in the middle of the freeway. Of course everyone from the flat tire car started to slam on their breaks. I had enough time to come to a complete stop and was about 2-3 feet away from the truck in front of me. Then all of a sudden...PLOW...a person slammed into me going about 50...I say "about" because it could me less...probably not more...maybe 45 - 50.

This person only has LIABILITY...and will only cover 10,000 for ALL damage. That include the car in front of me that I was pushed into. So then I had to go to my Insurance. They totaled the car and covered everything 18,679.50 is the check they are going to write.

And they will fight Infinity for the difference. My insurance is good...but they only gave me 100.00 for a spoiler that is 450.00 installed.

The spoiler is still good so I am going to take it off!!!

Possibly use it on a YARIS type S sedan. Not totally sure though. There are no cars out there around the 16,000 range and aren't American. I am not buying a Dodge, Ford or Chevy. Honda Civic SI coupe starts at 21,000. So Toyota is it and the Yaris Sedan looks like it could be a great car with lowering springs and some good rims/tires.

The color black is not the issue...I have own lots of black cars and never had an issue. It has something to do with the TC. It is the only time I have ever crashed. To me the car is too heavy and the brakes too mushy for its design...great car...but for me bad luck.

I agree with what 1SXETC said. I've seen a couple of tc's here in New York which has damage, whether minor or major. My NBM was 3 days old when a taxi couldn't wait for the light to turn green and traffic to start flowin when he scraped the left rear bumper on mine. When cops showed up, he acted like he didn't understand english. I know the scratch is there, but you can't really see it unless the car is dirty or you really look for it.

Default car PAID off!!!

I pay cash for things...so my car was paid off in full.

The full 18 thousand + is all for a new vehicle.

I can get the YARIS for 15,500 out the door loaded and put 3000 in the bank. Right now I am in the frame of mind that I just need a good car that gets me from point A to point B.

I GOT THE SPOILER OFF!!!

To the guy that suggested "fishing line"...if you're in the Tustin area I owe you lunch!!!
