Being as I had my tC before I was even able to drive, it took me a long time to get used to it once I was able to drive by myself.

Define confident. I'm confident that I'm pretty good at handling my car. However, I'm not 100% confident because I've never had the opportunity to take my car to its absolute limits in a safe environment. I don't know where the edge of my car's capability is, specifically pertaining to braking and handling.

Agreed. Although I have slid into my friend's neighborhood before. I shat my pants.

My car has been in the shop for 39 damn days, with no ETA in sight for weeks.

are you driving stick or automatic? I drive stick and it took me about a month of driving streets, stop and go, hills, etc....to get so used to it that you didn't have to think about it anymore. If you drive automatic, the thing to remember is to stay calm, and don't do anything stupid, like speeding excessively on the freeway, or having a super heavy foot....other than that, confidence comes with experience...so drive drive drive!

I put two weeks. At first the clutch was tricky cuz it's heavier than I expected. I've had my car 10 months and I still cringe at intersections. It's not the confidence part, that's the "where is the next _______ driver coming from" thoughts running through my head. I would say I push the car to what I believe is the 85% limit. - Hence i've never spun out or gotten sideways or anything, controlled or uncontrolled environments. I do a lot of driving too (i'm at 36,200 IN 10 MONTHS) so the experience malibuboy talks about is right. just drive drive drive (crazy, not stupid).
