Don't you mean catback exhaust? Most axle back exhausts are 50 state legal.

You dont need a muffler to pass emissions. Just makes it a _____ for them to reach under the car and give it a proctal exam

most 1997 and newer vehicles have an OBDII connection for emissions. So they basically hook up a sending unit to the OBDII port to read if there are any malfunctions in the system. Pretty much any Check engine lights for the emission system is what they red flag.

SO as long as you don't have a CEL for the emissions, you should be okay to pass. And an axelback is fine to install. no CEL's have ever come from a TRD axelback

up here (burbs of Chicago) it is 3 years for a new car. I am sure it all depends on where you live.

For those that live in Austin or Dallas,
where is the best place to get an emission test?
I just moved here from Kansas and now I"m hearing that you need to take tests and stuff to have stickers on your windshield. Kansas don't have any emission tests so I have no clue. I want to go to a place that doesn't flag me for my 20% tint

here is Austin if you car wont pass the emissions laws (your car has to be registered in Travis or Williamson county to be tested) you may try your luck somewhere in the east side of town slip some cash I'm sure someone will pass you..

I've been a vehicle owner for almost 5 years and I've never done an emissions test or had a vehicle inspection. When does this have to be done? Who requests it? The DMV? Do they notify you when it's time? I traded in my last car when it was 3+ years old, but never got it tested.

California requires a Smog test for a new car on the 4th year of ownership, and then another smog check every other year. Keep an eye on your registration renewal when you get it in the mail. It'll tell you when you need to get the beast smogged. There is no vehicle inspection in California.... but if Erik Estrada (CHP or any other lawman like Rosco P. Coltrane) pulls you over and sees some illegal equipment on your car he has every right to give you a fix-it ticket.

Oh, that's cool. After four years it's about time to get a new car anyway.

CA changed the law back in 2004 or 2005, we now have 6 years on a new car.
