The material is fairly rigid, and the turnbuckles are rated to 400lbs, so I think they'll do the job. I didn't want to risk the rigidity of FRP or laminated fiberglass, because I know I'd hit a dip too on-center, or misjudge a parking block and buy a First Class ticket to The World of Hurt.
I'm gonna run the splitter for at least 2 weeks to see how it holds up to scrapes, bumps, high temperatures, etc. The things are a bear to make, I wanna see how it holds up to abuse before I even consider offering one to someone else. I am Jack's guinea pig.

x2 What are these things used for???
Think of it as a wing on the front of the car. It's designed to create downforce without increasing drag as much as a chin spoiler or air dam would. I've only noticed a difference above 65mph-- at 70mph on a freeway connector, the front is... smoother through the corner.
So basically, it looks kickass, provides a bit of high speed stability, and protects the underside of the front bumper. Good deal, I reckon.
