Default Paint Coming off RS1 Grill

I noticed yesterday when I did a quick spray on wax on my tC that some of the black paint was flaking off my grills. Is this happening with anyone else's? I am kind of upset that the car is less than a year old and the paint is already starting to come off. It is still black underneath, but it is duller than the top coat of paint. Next time I go into the dealer, I am gonna ask about it. Anyone else having this problem?

this happened to me 2. i have not fixed it...considering that its the grill, i think that it is caused by road debree(i dont think i spelled it right). so i think just paint it over. im not gonna waste my time doin that until it is really noticable.

working for dealer, u have fat chance of them replacing no charge....
most likely road debris, it happens unfortunately. but thats what they will probably blame it on

The paint is there, but when I wipe it with a rag, it flakes off. I think that is a paint problem. I mean, if the actual paint started flaking off of the body, be it on the rear or the front of the car, it is a bad paint job. Wouldn't it be the same with the grills?

for most paint issues the service director or regional rep has to get involved
its an uncommon issue, thats why

id speak with the service director on the matter and go from there

in my opinion if its flaking off when using a rag, something is not right

Its happened to mine too. It's road debris and in order to keep the grille looking new, you need to get it powdercoated.

Its actaully a paint problem cuz it happend to mine the 1st month i had my tC. I took it in to the dealer and they replaced it for me but i had to wait like almost 3 or 4 months cause it was on backorder. And the new one the paint is chipping off too. but i got a homie who works for parts so he gave me the old grill. im having that powder coated. =P

Same situation here. One stone or debris starts it and then it will flake a little from there. I don't want to know what it's going to look like after the 5500mile roadtrip this summer. Hopefully, I'll have my new bumpers by then so I won't have to worry about the originals getting messed up. I don't know if this is the same with you other RS1 guys or not but it seems like the top grill takes all the heat yet the bottom one is just chillin like the day it was new.

UPDATE:
Late last week, I called the dealership to tell them about my flaking grill problem and they told me to come in and let the warrenty guy take a look at it. So I went in and the guy came out. He looked at both upper and lower. The upper one only has a few flakes missing so he said that is just normal road debris wear and tear. When he looked at the lower one though, he said that looked like "excessive" flaking was taking place.

I called the dealership yesterday and my new grill is in. Now, I just have to schedule a time to go in and have them replace it. Sweet!

The dealer told me that they have to keep the grill for 60 days in case the company wants it sent back. My guess would be they do that in case they see a string of similar warrenty replacements, the company can recall the parts and investigate. The warrenty guy said that I can call back after the 60 days and if the grill is still there, I can come in and pick it up. (crosses fingers)
