my buddys 2006 scion tc is silver. he noticed today that the paint on his side view mirrors is freakling and coming off. like peeling off on both sides. he doesnt wash the thing everyday but he does take good care of it and adds no extra chemicals to the side view mirrors

is this because of the plastic its painted on? or is the paint sucky? and whats the easiest way to fix it.

 

sucky paint exposed to wind/bugs/sun mine did the same thing on a BSP

 

i figured it had to be the paint. any ideas on a fix or did u just replace?

 

That sucks man... Did he do the prep work before painting it? The paint quality is all about the prep work.

 

its the stock paint.

 

get the painted at a body shop, the paint will be thicker and last longer than factory

 

I agree... go take it to a body shop to paint it. They'll most likely do a better job and apply more layers with thicker paint.

The paint on tC's aren't really that great. Happened to my SSM, I had them repainted.

 

its happening to me. i kindof want to put some sort of vinyl over them but i dunno what yet

 

I had that happen too, I just sanded everything off and re-sprayed them flat black.

 

Just tell him to bring them to a shop, most of them will spray those for around $150
