I painted my rear emblems black, and the word SCION is in red...the red and black theme looks awesome...gotta love the RS1.0

 

i was thinking about doing this... how is it holding up?

Did you just mask the area off or did you take the emblem off and put it back on?

hahahaha, didn't even see that..................well, anyone else try this? Do you have to work the emblem off kind of like the "tC" or just mask it off?

 

i took off mine like the tc one... but it broke so I bought a new one I think I will be painting it today or tomorrow. I didnt notice the day of the post ethier haha.

 

most people take it off and reapply it.

there's a substantial amount of masking and work to paint the emblem while it's still on the car..

it'd be idiotic for someone to do that..

 

That's what I would think due to how it's not flush, but inset into the mounting area. Oh well, maybe I'll attempt to take it off.

How much did the new one cost and did you get it from the factory?

 

i got it from the dealership, it was 30 bucks or so. I rip off for sure but oh well. I think Im going to use black trim paint to paint the badge and maybe some model paint for the letters.

 

Damn, 30$ for that thing? That's crap. I wanted to make mine a dark smoke to keep the whole car stealth looking. Nothing flashy and no silver.

Taking off the emblem isn't hard at all, just grab a blow dryer and a plastic spatula. Heat up the emblem (and therefor the adhesive behind it) and use the spatula to gently pry off the emblem.

 

I did the tC one the first week I had it and that was a synch. It's just that the Scion emblem is not flush mounted and I don't want to chip the paint trying to fit something underneath of it. I'll use the hair dryer thing like I did with the tC emblem and see how it goes. Just making it flat black with a clear coat

 

The paint's not that crappy. A plastic spatula wont hurt it. You may not even need to get something under there if you heat it up enough...it may just pull off.

 

Yeah, I was going to try some fishing line since it worked like a charm on the tC part.

 

That's another option. I just didn't have any when I did mine.
