Default Painted Valve Cover pic, Request.

Post your pics of your painted valve covers, the metal, not the plastic. im trying to decide what color i want to do.

also, i know there is a DYI, or at least a walk through on here somewhere, and im pretty sure it was a guy from the 1UPCREW who made it, not to long ago... i tried searching and couldnt find it... anyone know where i can find it? (looking for what cleaning stuff and type of paint to use.)

thanks for the pics guys!

(ps, im also looking to buy a spare valve cover if you have one.)

Im not positive, but due to the heat of your engine bay, you may want to get it powdercoating... I know locally there's a place that will do a valve cover for $40... But thats in VA... Just an option...

that would be pete, you can paint it as long as you use high temp stuff. that should make it stick and not chip off

i painted my like a textured gold,,,it has like a rough finish to it...pic is on my profile...i have had it painted for for about 5 months now and the heat from the engine hasnt affected it at all and its just regular rattle can paint...so you should be straight with whatever paint you use...

ill use high heat engine paint. but im just looking to see how the colors look, i think im down to red, black or white. i also want to see if anyone has 2toned it, and if so, where they broke up the colors.

the main reason for this, is im trying to "strip" my engine bay, getting rid of the little things to try and make it look a little more empty in there. (empty = clean imo, well see if it works out that way, lol.)

You should definitely do a wire tuck! That would look sooo sick!

I colormatched the DC bar, it's IIP. If you want to send me a cover, I can prep it out and paint it pretty much whatever color you want.

No, it's just that maroon-looking color you had in there looked like garbage from day one. Wrinkle red is supposed to be red. And seeing as the actual red was discontinued by the manufacturer in 2006, I don't see how it could get "played out".

maroone?? lol dude i think u need to adjust your monitor or something.. i used VHT RED wrinkle paint... which is pretty much identicle to the normal honda wrinkle red or any other wrinkle red paint out there.. lmao

if you want to be an azzhat then let me toss up your "pink" wrinkle vc in your photobucket.

lol.... anyone with half a brain would realize colors vary in dif. lighting scenarios, camera quality, and monitor color adjustment...

I know exactrly what paint you used. I also know the VHT looks nothing like Honda's wrinkle. The VHT is Maroon, and it's crap. The Krylon is actual red, and you can't buy it anymore.

Good job picking out a 3 year old photo with horrible white balance, though. I could pick any of your photos, your VC would still be maroon.

lmao... r u serious... would you like me to go over on honda-tech alone and pick out the 1k archived threads of people comparing VHT wrinkle red to the normal honda red wrinkle red... LMAO

im glad YOU find my vc to be a shade off.. but in person and most pics it looks bright red and spot on since i actually owned a real ITR vc in wrinkle red that i tossed on my previous gsr. but to entertain you heres another pic of my maroone vc lol which looks awfully red to me lol...

oh look another one

lol.... wow same vc but different shades.. i dunno must be magical or something right... or should i look at your "3yr old pic" and think wow what a nice pepto bismol pink vc....

lmao... have a nice day!

Let's offer up some photos that haven't been aggressively retouched, yes?

VHT:

Krylon:

Bottom line I've seen both finishes set side-by-side. The Krylon is red, the VHT is definitely something darker.

Extra bottom line, it's really a moot point, isn't it? I like my red one and you like your green one. I'm sure we can both respectfully agree to disagree.

like i said before... LIGHTING CONDITION, CAMERA, MONITORS.. EVERYTHING IS A FACTOR...

i can go on any forum and pull the same pics in reverse scenarios ...lol

BTW just to prove my point on lighting.... after searching the photobucket of the SOHC vc YOU posted which was "VHT" the user has this picture

WOW... same vc.. different lighting... new color.... must be charlie the unicorn spreading magical stuff on the internet again...

heres another "un touched" and un enhanced photo" in the same photobucket...

well will u look at that... another shade or maroo *cough* red...

anything else?
