I just got a used tC, it has the pedestal style spoiler on it. It is the one thing of my particular tC that I dislike. I know that if I were to remove it, there would be holes in the hatch. But, if I remove it and put on the lip stylle spolier, would it use or even just cover up the holes from the pedestal spolier? Thanks.

 

yes it would cover the holes and the lip style spoiler just uses tape

 

The OEM lip style spoiler from Scion just uses tape?

 

The OEM lip spoiler is using 3M tape plus bolts. If you are going to remove the pedastal and replace with lip, you will be only be able cover 2 holes, and the pedastal has 4.

 

Rats... Do tC owners ever swap trunks or anything? Anyone have anyother option to removing the spoiler? Also, what web sites do you guys like to buy parts?

 

dude your doing exactly what i did bout 4 months ago.
i removed the ped. spoiler and my dumbass friends ____ed around with it while i went to go buy some beers( 10 ____en minutes man) well when i got back it was removed already and i guess that the spoiler buckled and dented my hatch. a shop was gonna charge me 500 to fill em in. so i just bought a VIS hatch instead.
Word of advice dont let your friends touch your ____. lol

the pedistal spoiler isnt all that bad when you have a nice drop and decent wheels IMO. Even a lip kit will help it out.

 

It has the factory lip kit on it and the 18" rims

no... it won't cover the 4 holes left behind... and you'll need to drill in 4 MORE holes for the lip spoiler...

I would post a thread in your region to trade your trunk with spoiler for a stock trunk with either the lip spoiler, or just a stock trunk. I would guess someone may want a free pedestal spoiler for swapping the trunks out.

the dealer I bought mine from had already added the pedestal spoiler. I've considered removing it, but I doubt I'd be happy with the hatch just painted and filled. My dealer is drill happy...

 

bastards... i would've demanded for another car if you really didn't want it...

drill happy dealerships just want you to buy the spoiler so they install it on before you buy it... that way you can't really take it off... i hate dealerships like that...

My old car was totaled and I needed a car and wanted a tC. It had to be silver, so I took it. I don't HATE it, but I like the cleaner look of the lip, or no spoiler at all.

 

yeah i want to do this as well. I dotn like the pedistal spoiler at all. I dont know if i can take it to the dealer and just buy a new hatch there and then try and sell mine w/ the poiler on it on ebay or something
