Default piaa vs silverstars

has anyone here owned both piaa xtreme white plus's and silverstars headlight bulbs?

in your opinion which one do you think is whiter/brighter?

is it true that piaa bulbs last longer than silverstars? i keep reading the silverstars burn out pretty fast

and if someone has both silverstars and piaa's, pictures of each would be very helpful

thanks

----

also an unrelated question...the stock turn signal bulb is 21W right?....and from cardomain a chrome bulb that lights amber is 27W....would that be a problem?

or does anyone know where to get a chrome signal bulb that lights amber that is 21W?

Sad to say, but the Silverstars are definately brighter.

I ordered a set of high and low beam PIAA's to replace my Silverstars, but ended up returning them to Cardomain. They aren't as bright, and the bulbs are WAY oversized--like a 1/2 inch longer than stock. I was worried it might damage the housing with heat.

The 7440 APC Titans (lol APC) fit and work perfect.

I had the low and high PIAA bulb for almost 2 years now
no problem what soever, never had to replace jack. no overhearing or damage to housing, no fitment issue what so ever. My buddy who bought silverstar bulbs had to replace thmen 3 times in his first year of ownership. In fact he got so fed up coughing up $$$ for replacement, he go back to stock OE bulbs

I've had my Silverstars in for about two years with no problems. They were one of the first 'upgrades' I did to the car.

They are sensitive bulbs, if you touch or scratch them when installing them, they have been known to fail.

Glad to hear the PIAA's work out with no problems, though.

I believe what you refer to goes the same for all bulbs, the problem of them going out is usually "grease" from human body oil, etc. The first thing I do for installing bulb is get latex or Nitrile gloves to work on. To avoid leaving any grease for the light to burn.

i had both actually.. silverstars, then PIAA GT-X bulbs which cost me about 70 bucks and then decided to hell with it and went HID.. seriously if you want bright lights nothing beats HIDs. save up for a month or 2 if u have to. trust me, they throw out alot more light than the silverstars or any bulb

silverstars dont need an upgraded wire harness right? just plug and play? only the luminics bulbs do right?

im wondering cause the stock bulbs are 51W but the silverstar low beams are 55W and i dont want any problems with the harness later on

a rephrased question...how many of you put in the bulbs correctly (not touching the glass, scratching it, etc.) but still having it burned out quickly? =P

They're plug and play.

I put mine in with paper towels since I didn't have any gloves lying around, FYI.

Just put mine in a couple nights ago...and just to let you know if you buy them from Checker (or any of thier other stores) you get a rebate of $20 per set. Its a hell of a deal...so I silverstared all my bulbs.

last time i checked PIAA was 110w.... vs 55w stock

it's a no brainer question

piaa will be brighter...

my gf car had 95w bulbs and it melted the bulb holder into the headlamps...

PIAA is definitely not a way to go!

uhhh, piaa xtreme whites are 55w, i don't know where you got your info from. they "look" like 110w, as indicated on the box, but hopefully you're just mistaking the numbers...
