You need to find the post about your fellow Texacan who was pulled over for not having a front plate. He carrys a gun--which maybe more legal there than in CA---Anyway, by the time the local yokels got done with his car all of his speakers had been ripped out and left on the side of the road. Do what you will....................

buy yourself a pair of 1/4" carriage bolts 2-1/2" long, 6 nuts, and 6 washers, and stand that thing out from the lower grill. The only thing worse than a front license plate on the tC is two gnarly holes drilled in your bumper. (or a ticket, of course)

I run the front plate. It isnt worth getting pulled over and harassed over and then having to pay a ticket. And I think having it mounted on the lower grill is more nasty looking than on the stock location, so I just have it mounted there. Not to mention mine came with the two front holes already drilled in it.

Mine too, sadly. In fact, I watched the salesman do it, but I didn't realize there were dimples in the bumper at first and I almost shat myself when he started drilling into the plastic! I totally thought he was eyeballing it. Even still, I wish I would have thought to relocate it before the damage was done.

I have to disagree simply because it just looks out of place on the bumper. If there would be a little recess there or something, it would make all the difference. On a different note, I'd hate to see what happens to the paint on the front bumper after just a couple years of driving and dirt collecting back there and the wind wiggling the plate... people say that car bras are bad for your paint for the same reason, and we all know our paint isn't that tough in the first place.

I dunno about that setup, I'd have to know how sturdy it was to make sure it wouldn't flop back and nail my bumper at high speed repeatedly. Nice looking though...able to adapt a license plate frame to that?

Go for the custom mount if you're really worried about it.

I have Bumper Plugs in my dealer-drilled holes, but I live in Orange County--I'm not going to get pulled over ina new car unless I do something stupid.

In fact, the one time I've been pulled over since I've had the tC, the cop said not having a front plate here shouldn't be a big deal.

If you're worried about it, why not call up your local Police station, or ask a cop. They'll be able to tell you if they really enforce the 'front plate' thing in your area.

And besides, it shows you're going out of your way to avoid getting in trouble. A lot of local cops really appreciate that, and it may save you some hassles in the future.

Anyway, YES. Someone else on here plays Paintball?
What's up dude? I'm one of those crazy Pump players.

That's cheap! Here in cali it's 350 (got it in my eclipse last year)! The major thing is, if a cop pulls you over for no license plates he most likely figures you for a racer and will wanna check under your hood for illegal aftermarket parts (turbo, CAI, headers) and then the fine gets bigger and possibly can have your car towed. Is it really worth that hassle. You can also display it on your dash (so it shows in your window), in cali i know this is acceptable. again though, i don't know about Illinois' laws.

it doesnt flop in the wind. The bolts that go into the grill are welded onto the metal plate! So its very sturdy! I can take some better pics of it. Im sure if you have a friend that can weld and you show him this pic he/her will know how to do it!

Default Bumper hole covers?

I took the front plate off to clean up the look but there are the holes left behind to look at now. Are there any plugs that match the paint available out there?

Try this:
http://www.bumperplugs.com/

There have been several posts on this subject with people saying they get plugs at Lowes or Home Depot........
