I don't think the heat gun will work very well because you won't really be able to evenly heat it all the way around.

u can but u have to be careful not to warp the lens.

Also u cant use a heat gun when its cold. It will cause the plastic to crack.

Put the lamp in a foil lined box and blow air into the box with the heat gun like an oven - just watch the air temp - carboard will ignite at some point over 454F. If the box is made from foil covered sheet insulation it will work great.

i've used a hair dryer before on my civic headlights and it worked fine (it was also summertime and the car sat in the sun for a few hours) but this seems like it would be the best thing to do.

Asphyxiate.

I don't think you will asphyxiate unless you somehow manage to climb into the oven with your headlights.

Check this DIY - it's for halos, but same applies for baking open the lights.

From the beginning of the post:
This install requires that you bake your headlights, so if you're not comfortable with subjecting your headlights to 225 degrees for 15 minutes then I dont suggest this mod.

If it is a convection oven it is a LOT better. I heated preformed plexiglass in one at 360F and it straightened out perfectly, back to a flat sheet. Don't go that high on the headlight!

That's the method I used. Great write up right there.
