Question for all you valve cover painters....

Are you removing the valve cover to paint it, or just brushing it on? Reason for me asking is I'm getting a few things powdercoated this week and if you remove it to paint I'd rather get it powdercoated also.

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

 

here is mine.

JDM = type r valve cover, type r spark plug cover, type r oil dip stick.
Mugen = front strut bar, radiator cap, reservoir covers.
AEM cold air intake.

i used sand paper to polish it up. just take some good ol fashion work. start off pretty think like around 200 grit to break into a good surface then higher grit along the way. then wet sand and polishl.

Finished engine bay

 

honestly i didnt feel like taking off the valve cover so i went to walmart and baught some high heat ceramic spray paint and i masked off the entire engine bay except the part i was painting and just did several coats (about 7) or black (after i cleaned the valve cover) and about 5 coats of clear (also high heat). came out really good imo.

 

awesome engine bay Sciondad... but what about the radiator panel, dont you think it will help?

 

It will help with the look I'm sure.... but not with anything else....

I would love to see a diversion panel on Sciondad's ride, as I think it will clean up the front end of the engine bay a bit.... getting rid of that hideous black hole between the grille and radiator...

That's sooo pretty though, mine will be similiar, but with all black and chrome pieces, instead of blue... and a black FMIC to keep me in sleeperland.

 

Thanks Reviloo and WeDriveScions.....Yea, the big hole there is not lookin to good. We tried a diamond plate and it didn't look good at all. But the Black one by Dr.I is interesting.

WeDriveScions, I like the Black and Chrome piece look too, that works well together. I'm also with you on the hidden FMIC. Kinda why I'm not there now. I was lookin at using 2 side mount IC's, but haven't checked to see if it fits or not.

I guess mine looks too OEM for my own good... maybe noone noticed what's under the hood

 

to all who ask , the best place i found to get the carbonfiber engine valve cover is on racingsolutions.com, brian is real cool and got mine a long time ago at a show, i think it was $95,
