Default PRO/CON OF CARBONFIBER HOOD COMMENTS WANTED

I have a BSP scion tc and i was thinking on if i should get a CF hood or not.

Some guys said its break easy and some said no.

Price seems to be a con about it.

Fake CF could be a pain in the butt.

Would like to see what you guys said about CF hood so i can decided if i should get one or not.

fake cf is easy. All you need is some mesh material and black, and graphite paint and you can make it look better than cf.

I love my CF hood, it looks awesome.

Cons tho are that the one I got doesn't have a hole for the hood lift to go in so I have no way to hold my hood up at the moment (cept to lay it on my back ). Also it doesn't have holes for the washerfluid jets. So i just disconnected the pipe and tucked it in and carry some glass cleaner wipes since thats eaiser than drilling holes and remounting jets.

I guess you can buy hoods with all that stuff already put on/cut/installed, but I didn't. But I also got mine used on ebay for 300 shipped, so I'm not complaining.

I have the kaminari hood and it's awesome! It has templates for the washer jets (I chose not to use them). It also has the hole for the hood prop.

Pro's -- they look awesome

Con's -- must keep it waxed or will fade and crack.

Pros - Looks good IMO, lighter, looks good

Cons - depending on the company, it might be too flimsy (AIT) and bad fitting for a few companies, you must put on a clear coat every 8-10 months depending on how much you let it sit in the sun, and it's a big red flag for cops to nail you

If you're even thinking about any sort of "fake" CF for a hood, you might as well stamp RICE on your forehead right now.

*stamped!* (looking at the mirror and saw the words: "p0rn") heh love that movie.

of course i wont accept anything that are cheap. one of my friend offered me a cheap price on spoiler but i turned him down.

Here in the glory state of utah.. NOT!, people tried to pimp out their ride and 95% of them never finish it and its a great disappoint to us all.

CF looks great on BSP. It's a lot more subtle.

IMO the carbon fiber looks better as a contrasting color. like on silver or white. On a darker car it just looks like a dye lot problem.

It depends on what else you do with the car... if you ONLY do a CF hood on the FM or BSP then it might look like a mismatched color... but on a lighter color, ya, a single piece will stand out and offer contrast.

That said, I'd rather go with a silver CF hood on mine if I ever did it. But I don't have that kind of $ laying around.

Carbon looks best on darker colored cars. On lighter colors it reminds me of a zebra or something

i totally agree with you CustomTuners, ack154. it just look funny with BSP or black paint car. i thinking of getting a Reverse cowl hood but not CF. alot cheaper and better fit to my point of view on CF and black paint.
