No one makes them. You can get a retrofit set though from www.hidretro.com. About the best you can find right now.

So essentially nobody makes them. I've been looking for a long time and so have other people - you'd see posts if they exists. I don't count the hidretro or clearcorners stuff as they're both retrofits and they both cost a ton of money - the clearcorners ones are well over a grand and a custom retro runs something like 7 or 800 bucks. I somehow doubt that's what you're looking for. I know it sure isn't what I want to pay.

The xB was released for at least a year and probably a few years in Japan as the bB before we got it, hence all the parts. I do have to say though, I think most of those projectors are somewhat low quality and built for halogen headlights - projectors are really nice for HID, but the thing that really matters is that they're projectors BUILT FOR HID. I'm not going to even get into the whole HID without projectors thing again. Remember - on it's own, projector housings on your stock lights aren't going to make the light much better at all. What they do is A) look cool and B) give you the ability to correctly focus HIDs behind them, but only if they're the right projectors in the first place. I'd expect legitimate aftermarket projectors for the tC to cost about 300-400 if they were mass produced.

www.hidretro.com sells the BMW retrofit ones (even choices of 3 series with or without angel eyes or even 5 series) ... but they're certainly not $500.

HIDs in proper housings are DEFINITELY worth it. Once you drive with them you'll never want to go back. The amount and color of light they put out is amazing - it's like driving in the daylight. Now having said that, incorrectly mounted HIDs are illegal and stupid - you're blinding everyone and getting lower quality light out of the whole deal. The quality problem isn't that bad - I'd just do it if it wasn't for the blinding everyone else problem, and before we have this debate again (which we've had a million times) just know that it's not only my opinion but that of most everyone who is serious about HID. So about your other questions - with projectors, they do compare to Lexus or BMW - but the only people that have them are those that got retros, and there are only a couple of them - maybe one will post pics.
