Get a few nuts, bolts and washers from Lowe's or Home Depot and center it on the bottom grill. It would look a lot cleaner....

Nope. Atleast not in Cali. One of our guys got pulled over in his xB for having his in the windshield. I, on the other hand, have NEVER had a front license plate ever. I got pulled over awhile back for tinted tails and he didn't say a thing about a front license plate. Instead I have a black SO*CAL license plate up front.

I was thinking about creating something very similar,... but I was going to try to center it over the tow hook access hole so that no part of the access hole would be visible. Kinda like yours, but higher...

Please don't . Not only it's against the law but it's also unsafe----that thing can slice you if you ever get in to an accident (knock on wood). so yeah, just mount it on the lower grille if you want to be different.

well yes I made that at work in like 5min its just an example they have a water jet machine that can make the plate holders and then im going to make it were it is in the center of the tow hook so it covers the hole.... I don’t want it in my lower grill cause my inter cooler and what I have made is a simple and easy way of removing and putting the plate on and like I said its not the real thing I only have it tacked onto my tow hook and actually im going to get pipe with the same thread and do it that way
thanks for the opinions appreciate it

I give you credit for making something that works! I wanted to do this but never got around to it. On your next one, clean it up a bit and due a final product. Forget about what people say. If it works for you, be happy with it!

I'm glad I live in a state where it is nopt required to have a front license plate. On some cars I just think it looks wicked tacky some some on here said.

I've had a ticket for it, and been hassled about it so I just put the plate back on the lower grille. I found a thing called the "Show-N-Go" license plate holder and I want it!

Ok guys get this. I stop in Salinas a few months ago, rainy day and mistakenly parked in a 20 minute zone. Came out to find a ticket for parking for over an hour in the zone (complete accident the paint on the curb was chipped and hard to see ) and for no front liscence plate.

Anyway, I write in to explain my story and send a check for the $60 fine hoping they will give me a break and cancel the fine. 3 weeks later guess what happens.....I get mail from the police department stating that my case has been reviewed and the violations are valid but they agree to dismiss the fine and ticket! Holy crap! They even sent back my check! Good day, good day indeed.

Oh, moral of the story the days of having no front plate in California are numbered, mine has a front plate now.

that’s flipping sweet I guess they must have a lot of nice very forgiving police officers there cause were I live if your sitting in the BK parking lot eating for to long they will come and not just alone but in like a pack of 5 or 6 and say they have a complaint you have been drinking and have illegal substances in your car its crazy!! well that’s cool your one of the lucky few
