Whats up everyone! I'm new here on scionlife but have been on clubsciontc.com for a while, but thought I'd post over here also. Very nice community here. Anyways onto my Thread title, as it states I am retrofitting my current headlights and installing Quad Bixenon FX-R Projectors.

Here is some background info on projectors and everything..

The parts I have:
2 pair of FX-R Projectors
2 pair of Morimoto 35w D2s ballasts
2 pair of Morimoto 6k bulbs
2 pair of e46 shrouds
2 pair of 9006 relay harnesses
2 pair of 80mm CCFL's (angel eyes)

This is a very intense project that I am planning to take on. The installation will begin over the Thanksgiving break (right now). I plan to remove the current turn signal bulb cover that area with bondo/epoxy and paint over it. Then relocate my turn signal to the eye brow portion of the headlights using amber LED's which will only power on when I use my turn signal. Each projector will then be surrounded by 80mm CCFL (angel eyes)

For those of you unfamiliar with the retrofit process I'll give a few details.

By retrofitting my current headlights I will be upgrading them from their current state, which currently uses halogen bulbs and a factory halogen housing to "project" the light onto the road, to HID bulbs and an HID projector to more accurately project the light in a controlled pattern.

So whats Bi-Xenon you ask?
Bi-Xenon projectors feature a solenoid that make the cutoff shield movable.

Ok so whats a cut off sheild?? LOL
The cut off shield is what controls the light output from within the projector. This is what creates the "step" in the light pattern and controls the light from blinding oncoming drivers.

When activated, the shield drops or lowers & removes the cutoff step. This disperses the HID light in a high beam pattern (bright and everywhere). These style projectors use the HID bulb as its only light source (one bulb for high & low beam).

So why a Quad set up?
I decided to do a quad setup because I wanted my headlights to be unique. I dont like the look of the factory halogen housing and want both projectors in the housing, giving it a very sleek and different look as opposed to one bi-xenon projector in the low beam and halogen housing sitting there unused.

Will all projectors be on at once for the low beams?
Yes! All projectors will be on at once! But since these are HID projectors they will control the light output and will not blind oncoming traffic. They will supply me with enough light for me and drivers to the left and right of me, but the intensity will not blind oncoming traffic. Now the hi beams are another story (so dont ____ me off lol)

All of this I have learned over the last few months so if any one else has any other info on Projector setups please feel free to add!! Any questions let me know too!!

In the pics you will see all the equipment I purchased from the retrofitsource along with the current installation being taken place all the way up until today. (Amber turn signal LED's wired into brow of headlight) Along with Lowbeams installed and a very premature cut off.. (not aligned or adjusted as of yet)

 

very nice.. so you are doing 2 pairs of bixenon? im definitely interested the cut off later on and how bright is the high beams.. My quad setup only has a pair of Bixenon

 

Yes its 2 pairs of bixenons. for both lows and his. Cut off should be fairly sharp. Ill post pics by this weekend, when it should be completed.

 

oh btw.. do you have any pics of your quad setup!?

 

4 hid low beams on at once...unless im missing something, even with a perfect cutoff i would think that would blind everyone!! good luck either way!

 

the other very nice quad here i think belongs to upstyles? sick set up all 55w not sure if theyre all bixenons though..

the morimotos seem to work fine! I did a bit of research on them thru the retrofit source comparing the morimotos to the Phillips bulbs
