Default Question about Anzo head lights.

so im thinking about ordering these soon, i have a question about the halos. do they eventually go out like some ppl claim or are they going to last me a good while. i was thinking either anzo head lights or some hotchkis springs. i dont know though
i know the leds go out quick, but i was going to cover them up with an eyelid any ways.
and how easy is it to unplug the leds, can you do it with out baking the head light.
thanks

1 - I am thinking that it really depends on the set that you get. You may get lucky and have them last for a while. Or you may get unlucky and they go out the next day. So, do you feel lucky? Well, do you?

2 - LEDs are not supposed to go out quick. LEDs typically have a life span on 10,000 hours or something rediculous like that. If the LEDs are known to go out fast, then it's prolly not a very good thing to buy. But to unplug them, I think the only way to get to the back of them would be to bake them. However, they do light up, meaning that they have to have some sort of power source. This will generally be a wire protruding from the back. You might be able to just cut it.

3 - Why not just go with the springs and then do some headlight mods yourself? You can do all the things that you want (like halos) with just a little bit of knowledge and some time. It's not hard. If you want help on making some mods to your lights, PM me and I will try to walk you through it.

LEDs are often soldered onto a circuit board itself. They dont have to be wired up them self. I know the LEDs in the Anzo taillights are soldered to a board, the eyebrow LEDs might be as well but im not sure of that. Its always a possiblity.

If you buy the anzo's with the dde/ccfl rings you should expect them to last around 20K hours... if you check out umnitza's faq page. The anzo's use the same rings that umnitza makes for many cars, including the stock tC headlights. I've the predator thinline ccfl's, (same as anzo's,) installed on my cougar for 2 years now and they look as bright as day 1 and have not had any proplems with them.

Led bulbs have a warning on them to not use inside the headlight housing. I guess the heat decreases their life span somehow. So if you get the anzo's with led rings.... don't expect them to last very long

LEDs do not draw much current, thus do not creat a lot of heat. Being in an enclosed space should not effect the life of the LEDs. However, being close to a a hot bulb such as the headlight bulb might?? But if that's the case, why can you have a LED in the parking light slot (inside the low beam housing) and not have it burn out. After all, it is extremely close to the low beam bulb.

Also, even if the LEDs are connected on a circuit board, (which I am not doubting that they are), there would still have to be some sort of power source. This power source might be the same as the other parking light (side and/or the inside bulb). If this is the case, you would surely have to bake the lights to disconnect them. But look on the back... you might find a wire coming from the top of the housing. This wire might be the power souce for the LEDs.

I am still voting to do the mods your self and get the springs.

I don't know if they do or not. I haven't had them myself. However, if they do, (or if you have only heard about it) then why are you contemplating them?

?? Did you read my post? I've has them installed on my car for 2 years, which gets driven year round, and haven't had 1 problem. I haven't read about anyone with stock headlights and the large Umnitza ccfl rings having any problems either.

Where have you read that they do?
