rear wing
there's been some speculation about the function of the rear spoiler...
people have been asking me if the pedestal does anything...the lip obviously does nothing
from what i know it's purely for looks, but some ppl have argued otherwise, some say drag, others say aerodynamics...
what do you think?
I'm stickin with the 'purely for looks' idea...since it is a front wheel drive car afterall.

Rear traction is still important in FWD cars. Obviously, not as important as in RWD cars but it's still important. At high speeds, the tail (the whole car really) can get really squirrly and having some downforce could help a bit.
Otherwise, some spoilers or wings are made to stabilize the air moving past the car which will help reduce drag.
Functional spoilers, as in a lip-type spoiler, always reduce drag but don't necessarily increase traction.
But in all honesty, there's body piece out there made specifically for the tC that will increase performance in anyway.
