Default Rebased D2R bulbs in reflector housing?

im considering running rebased D2R bulbs to fit 9006 sockets because i would like to change my HIDs from 5000K to 4300K and also retain some sort of cutoff, while not having such bad hot spots most HID kits have. has anyone done these with the rebased philips bulbs?

I thought headlight design affected beam pattern not the bulbs? Unless they have shields on them or something.

I researched it some. These are pretty pricey at $70 a bulb. But supposedly they're focused better than the PnP cheap kit bulbs. I've been looking for a new HID kit lately and this looks like a good option. Denso ballasts and re-based 9006 bulbs.

yeah they are pretty expensive. i already have a HID kit installed in 04-07 headlights. all i need are the rebased D2R bulbs and adapters that fit the new bulbs and connect to any aftermarket ballast. it'll cost a lot but i think they will be worth it. plus im tired not being able to see some of the sides at night when all the light is concentrated in the center. not to mention the glare that is created by majority of HIDs.

Found some a little cheaper here http://www.autogoody.com/servlet/the...se-9005/Detail

I can't decide on ballasts. It's between the Morimoto and the Matsu____a on TRS.

price isnt too bad. i know those OEM type ballast would do the job pretty good but im think most aftermarket ballast should also do as well. i mean my ballasts havnt failed yet and the bulbs are still requiring 35w anyways.

The Morimotos are $110 the Matsus are $150. They also have the OEM Denso (what Toyota uses) for $165.

So if someone didn't have an HID kit yet, what would one need to do this setup? I believe the D2R's are better bulbs anyways. They have the same output as the HID kits but with the much needed spread. Am I to understand you don't get that nice bluish hue such that aftermarket kits have. I'm just visioning the look of TSX's on the Acura's.

if you dont have a HID kit yet then you can always go the expensive(correct) route by buying the OEM type ballast and the rebased phillip bulbs. since i already have a aftermarket HID kit all i would need to buy is the bulbs and the adapter cables to be able to hook the bulbs up to the ballasts i have since they do not use the same connections. majority of cars that have HIDs that come from factory in reflective housing use these bulbs. i know 04 - 05 STi's have these bulbs and so do cars like the 03 Acura RL's. im sure there are others but i cant think of them at the top of my head right now.

Now there is the thing with my projectors being halogen ones (i.e. 2009 OEM). Is that an issue?

not really. i mean i see people running HIDs fine in that housing. plus you dont have to really worry about getting a D2S bulb cause i think your projectors have a cutoff in them already.
