So I want to make sure to get a couple decals on straight and figured that if it's not too difficult, I would just remove the deflector to do it while it's off the car. Anyone know how difficult it is? I didn't see anything in a search, so I was hoping someone has tried it.

Keep in mind, I'm mechanically inclined enough to do most things, so a simple "oh just take out these few screws and it'll come off" or something will be fine. I just haven't taken a good look at it yet to know.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. I dont really like the way it looks; however it does keep alot of wind from entering your cargo at higher speeds.

 

Well I don't want to remove it permanently... just remove it to put a decal or two on it and put it back. It's tough to reach to it and still keep things level and centered.

 

wow that seems like more work than standing through the sunroof and putting the sticker on upsidedown. if you could tape the deflector down the surface should be quite flat. keep us updated.

 

removing the wind deflector will cause more air drag.

I took a quick look at the contraption. Looks like there are 4 hex screws (two on each side) holding down the deflector from underneath. Then there are little C clips connecting to deflector to the spring arms. Hmm...

Heh... well, "first" wasn't actually the word I was thinking of, but I guess that works too...

 

you do not need to take it off to get a vinyl straight. i did mine just fine...had help from 1 other guy but you just have to take measurement and mark with a dry erase marker that you can see on the deflector.

hint: lay it down before pulling the adheasive back in off. get it marked out and where you need it. then take some masking tape and tape the top portion to the deflector so that you can fold it back and it will still be in postition.

keep in mind the deflector is convex shape like this ( so you will need to make small cuts on the bottom portion of the layout so it fits the curve
