Replacing Factory Fog Lights
I have the factory fog lights on my car. I've seen pictures of aftermarket lights in the "side vents", and I prefer that look over the factory layout. My question is if I buy an aftermarket fog light kit, could I hook that up to the existing wiring from the factory fog lights, or would I have to rewire everything?
you'd just have to splice the wiring to the new ones, cut it off right near the bulbs on the factory ones, then splice in the new wiring, cause they are gonna prob use diff bulbs, if you have a multimeter check to make sure which wire is the 12VDC and which is the ground, prob not good to mix them up. if you don't have a MM...well...good luck, you can get them almost anywhere for like $10 now adays, LOWES, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Harbor Freight Tools, all of those place s should have them. Or if you can wait a little I will make a DIY in the next couple of weeks when I get some new ones.
Does anyone know what maximum size foglight that will fit in our vents. I was looking at 3in round projector fogs with halo, and wasnt sure if that would fit. I know someone on here posted their fogs and it was listed that they were 3in also, but our vents i measured only to be like 2.5....Anyone know?
No rewiring is neccessary. Just find the 2 terminal connectors on the back of each fog housing and cut off the connectors. You'll have 2 cut wire from each fog light.
(12B+ and gnd) Find which one is a 12V supply wire and solder corresponding wires
from aftermarket foglights. They should operate like the factory setup.
Personally, I would rewire the fog circuit to having them work independantly from the headlights. Factory setup only allows fog operation with the headlights on.

But if your going to cut the fog bulb connectors off, allow 2 inches of wire behind the connector and cut at that location.
