im planning to get HIDs. but i deno if i wana pay 500dollars for brighter lights.... Are there any disadvantages of getting HIDs? I heard it can mess up the OEM housing and most of them are illegal..

 

i have the stock bulbs and they light up well, but i would love to get the HID's to but i heard it can mess up the OEM housing thats the only reson it keeps me from buying them.

 

“search” is your friend. All of them are illegal. The high-kelvin kits will make you stand out like a sore thumb to the cops compared to a proper retrofit. Disadvantage of getting a kit is the horrible glare and dangerous driving situation you created for yourself and the drivers around you at night. It will not mess up the OEM housing but will melt the wirings if you do a plug-n-play. But you can use a cheap relay harness to eliminate the risk.

how do the plug and play melt the wirings?

 

If your not using a wire harness that pulls current from the battery there is a possibility they can melt your stock harness. When the HIDs first come on and flicker then get brighter over a couple of seconds, they are pulling more power from your stock wiring which is only designed to handle 35w. With that extra current that is being drawn to intially power the things it can melt your harness.

If anything, should be locked because there's countless threads for HID's.

 

I love my HID's and i know some peeps go with halogens but they last usually up to 3 months at about on average 30 a pair. So well just say $100 a yr at least in my exp and others i know.

I dont know about $500 for HID's.......i bought Mcculloughs through Xenonpros.com for only about $270.00 shipped. I thought it was well worth it and i have had them for 1 year now a no problems. I have 6000k

 

i think HID are 250$ i got mine at that price... unless u wanna buy those retrofit and such... but i doubt its 500$ i have 12k on mine... havent got pulled over

i decided im gettin HIDs... anybody have links how to install it?? i have a semiburnt wiring harness on the passenger side from high wattage bulbs.. can they still work with the upgraded HIDs?

 

a HID kit generally runs you about 250-300 dollars considering it's plug and play. So that means you are being charged 200 dollars minimum for INSTALLATION?

if you haven't noticed, hid kits are PLUG AND PLAY. so if you pay that amount for INSTALLTION, then you should really take a look at who the dumass might be.

It takes about 5 minutes to "INSTALL" hids. if you have to pay for that shyt, then your a freaking dumass.

 

hmm lets see... all HIDs are plug and play ... well my mcculloch is. OMG 250 for HID plus 250 for install!? the guy whos install needs a slap for the biggest rip off ever.

 

i had a burnt harness before from a high wattage bulb too... all i did is went to a local pepboys or something (car part store) and bought a new harness for 3bucks. all i did is cut the burnt one and put on the new one. done and done. all less for 250. Tell u wat since u still have 245$ left in ur pocket u can buy us all beer and pizza
