Is it risky to bake the headlights???
Im just curious to know if it is risky to bake the headlights. I want to bake mine and paint the eyelids and amber corners but I dont want to risk screwing them up. And when you paint the inside, what kind of paint is sugested??? Any advise will be greatly appreciated . . .

the insides are plastic, so you either have to have them professionally prepped and done, or use a good quality plastic paint like fusion.
I've baked my headlights twice and others as well... just take your time and read up on how to do it... don't use a gas oven, preheat it before putting them in, place them on a towel on a cookie sheet at near 250 and you should be good.

Thanx Tim for the info. So if I bake them, will I have to worry about the headlights getting warped or anything like that? And for that fusion paint, do they sell that at autozone or somethin like that?
just keep a close eye on them and work quickly once they are out of the oven. i did mine, no problems at all

i also ran a bead of silicone around them after i was finished just to make sure they dont fog up

Would u guys recomend doing the eyelid? I saw someone post and say it stuck to the headlight? And when u say work quickly, how long did it take to paint and how long did u have them out of the oven?
i meant work quickly as in pulling them apart, that glue hardens back up after a minute or 2, once they are apart doesnt matter how long you take painting, i think we did 3 coats paint, 2 coats clear, 3 hours dry time and them put them back together.
and i did under the eyelid but left it clear, im debating on changing i though

Oh alrite. And the silicone. Is that put on before u put it in the oven to seal up again, or after it seals? Sorry about all the questions guys. I just want to do it rite. Thanx again

nope.... it helps to have two people though, one to pull apart slowly, and the other to slice the sealant with a razor... (it helps open it easier)
Just make sure to take the bulbs out, the screws off, and the rubber things off too!
