Default S2000 vs. Element antennas

I've seen that there are slight differences between the two: S2000 having some ridges vs. Elements flat all the way through...
Anyone know if the base of the antennas (specifically the elements) will fit our tC's exactly or are the off slightly (meaning too wide or not wide enough at the base)?
Which of the two have better reception? and are they both made of rubber (like the same material that the stock tC antenna is made from)?

I bought the Element antenna the other day, and while I don't know how it compares to the Honda S2000, it does leave a small gap where you can see the ridges on the base of the tC's antenna holder. It's not a snug fit as other people make it sound... only if the screw on the antenna was like, half a centimeter longer, it probably would be snug.

Reception is identical to stock antenna as far as I can tell.

I've bought the stubby antenna and reception is whacky to soso...
That is the main reason why I'm looking into s2k vs. element antennas... I'm guessing that the s2000 antenna is probably gonna have the same type fit as the elements. I've also seen the MDX antenna but it looks identical to the elements (and ID #s is only off by a lil bit)...
It doesn't look bad thoe versello, but in ur opinion, are u recommending it?

I would reccomend it. You can't really notice the gap unless you specifically look at it. I'm sure it can be filled up nicely with a rubber washer (I've been planning on checking Home Depot one of these days). Someone else in a previous thread mentioned about buying rubber "o-rings" from Wal-mart, but if I recall, it actually stuck out a little.

What kind of stubby did you get? I probably wouldn't trust stubbies off eBay. If Honda uses these stubbies for the S2000 and the Element, you can be rest-assured on the reception quality.

Some stuff @ stubby antenna (just okay quality if u ask me...nothing special)... I don't listen to the radio much, but if i ever wanted to the reception isn't up to par. On top of that, it doesn't even cover the 4 groves and leaves them wide open (atleast the s2k and elements cover it somewhat).
Another question i have is, is the antennas made from rubber or plastic? I believe our stock ones are rubber which allows for it to cover up those 4 groves.

The antenna is pretty flexible, so I'm sure it's rubber.

My stock antenna didn't cover the grooves... it seemed to sit right on top of it, and if you luck underneath the stock antenna, there were little bumps that I suppose go into the groove and help keep it in place.

I need to get a new antenna now. My factory tC antenna has poor reception. God, another $30 down the drain...

Stock antenna has poor reception?... something is not right with that. Take it to the dealer, because it shouldn't have poor reception at all, unless you're definition of a good reception would be all radio stations across the US...

Dear sombody,

Please make retractable stubby antenna's that are flush with the body when the radio is off and only 5" long and fat like is all the rage with the kids these days when I turn my radio on.

Many Thanks,

AJ

Actually I found a marine FM antenna recently that was cheap, and is designed to work behind any non metalic panneling.

I figured you could attach it inside the back bumper and then get the 'shop' to shave and fill the old hole.

The element doesnt have the top ring thing on the tip. Both fit the same way at the bottom
