Default Scion Tc Brake Light Accessories. Is it worth it?

Hi Scionians,

I have a '05 Tc and was looking at buying the brake light kit ($325 at Scion dealers). I really like the LED brake lights on these. What are your thoughts? I only saw one TC actually installed from bit of a distance so I ask for your input. Also, are these rather easy to install on my own? Thanks for your help.

Update: I think I have decided not to upgrade my exhaust as every single on I have heard on the street (both Tc and other cars with aftermarket ones) are just a bit too noisy. I really want a very subtle on and TRD's I think are too loud....

i believe you have to remove the rear bumper cap, also i think they look cheezy since the whole assembly is not 100% led.

The TYCs? IMO, I think it depends on the color of the car. It looks good on some, not so hot on others. But it's personal preference, though. *shrug*

I had the TYC's installed on my BSP and they look sweet, I always get comments on them. They contrast the black like crazy! I bought the Tails on EBAY for $275, and the dealer installed them for $15. Had them installed at Royal Moore out in Hillsboro. The coolest thing about these lights, is that nobody else has 'em, so it's still pretty unique.
My advice - get 'em...

If you're going to get the TYCs and dont like their normal look.., send a PM to The Overlay Guy on the YSTC forums.

He does...good...work

http://www.yoursciontc.com is the address.

Here's a sample of his TYC work

^ Yes.... The worst thing about the TYCs is the amber....

But, I've had at least 20 people tell me to not to get them... only a few really like them out there.... publlic opinion is that they are overpriced and just aren't "Clean" enough...

Just today someone told me not to get them at baxter auto parts, as he checked out my ride.... He said... "Stay Clean, Man"

You can get the lights from trdsparks.com for $255 and the install is an extremely easy DIY. A little pain in the ___ if you have the bazooka sub but only until you find the bolts holding the enclosure on there.

The reason I got them and got them smoked was because A) it looks absolutely badass and B) the glaring red from the stock tails on IIP is abnoxious.

I think they look good when overlayed but without the overlay, most colors don't look good with them.

I'm with Chris - I have the Bsp TC and it looks amazing. I like that I'm just about the only one around with 'em.

I think it is that they blend in better with a darker color so therefore are less obtrusive....

Im kinda having second thoughts on my tyc lights. when it rains i get condensation inside the lights, makes it look like they were cheaply made. I might have the dealer instally the old ones. I have gotten alot of comments on them and alot of looks. With the S2000 antenna that i have it makes the car look more sporty. im probably gonna tint the windows this spring to make it look pimp, and of course wash it cause it's rained here constantly and no reason to wash it when it's raining.

It's rained.....a bit (lol)...up here and I've never seen any kind of condensation on the inside of the lights.

Of course it could be the overlays. They wrap around the entire seal for about a half-inch
