Default Semi-Finished HID Projector Project (56k go take a dump)

Alrite, so I'm guessing I'll be the fourth person as far as we know, to attempt the hid projector mod to the tC.

So far, I've made the Wiring Harness and tested the relay and everything seems working. All i need to do now is mount it and mess with the actual headlamp.

I'll also be using this bezel with the larger 3 inch bezel from a new E46. I got it at a wrecking yard, and managed to only get one bezel. Gonna go to the dealer to look for another one.

I got my hands on a bi-xenon 3 inch projector (wrecking yard) and I'll eventually try to wire it so that i can use high beams. Got my ballasts from HID planet.

OKay, no clear corners, and i had to go back to school, so i couldn't wait for the angel eyes to come in. I think overall the project went well.

Some problems:
1. Light leak on the side. Will cover with angel eyes.
2. Condensation- going to reseal the casing.
3. projectors aimed too LOW- need to reopen and adjust the projector.
4. I want more-blue bulbs.

Major thanks to my dad! He fabricated the mount and ended up using holes and screwing points of the casing, allowing me to adjust the light however i want.

Too bad i had to go back to school. Definately not enough time to fix all the problems. I'm gonna have to wait until spring break to correct the issues.

Also, i scratched the casing. Any suggestions on how to polish or correct the marks?

More pictures as i take them!

sweet!! keep us updated with pics. on the E46 bi-x projectors, i heard if you rotate the glass lens 90* so the line is vertical, the cutoff will be more sharp. i sold my E46 projectors before getting a chance to try that. also have you tried to bend the shield a bit to add more color?

Technically, you are the fifth, but since I haven't posted about mine in this forum yet, I'll give you the distinction of being fourth. I got my equipment for my bi-xenon a couple of weeks ago. e55-Bixenon projectors. Is this your first retro? Its mine, and I am abit cluless on the wiring end so expect to hear some pm's from me. That goes you too maximus96.

I'm definately doing angel eyes on mine, probably the thin DDE's that umnitza sells. Wish they weren't so pricey 159.99. But I can't argue because I got an obserd deal. e55 bi-xenon projectors, phillips utilnon bulbs, bulb holders, hella ballasts, ignitors, and pre-made wire harness. All from some dope on ebay who didn't know what he was selling for $220 shipped. Projectors bulbs and ballast alone could have easily run me $500 (Utilnon bulbs are really expensive). I also want to do amber LED or CCFL eyebrows. Maximus, where did you get yours?

Anyway, don't want to hijack your thread, will probably start my own tomorrow. Good luck and keep us posted. Oh and by the way What did you guys use as a power source to test your setup indoors to make sure everything works?

If you look in the forums of hid planet, there is a post on how to make a power supply using a turn signal and a computer psu. I tried the mod, but unfortunately i didn't get it to work because the psu was broken.

I ended up just using a car battery. It's fine to use if you're just testing the Hids for a few seconds.

*Also, make sure you let the hids power up all the way before disconnecting them

that is BAD. and yes, do the angel eyes. you seem like (just from looking at your car) the type to be interested in making this more on the luxurious side, yet with a sporty flare. very nice. i say go for it. you got the hard part done. JUST DOOOOO IT.
