I did a garnish on my own, bondo'd it smoothed it out, primed it, and painted and cleared it myself. I installed it about 4-5 days ago, the last 2-3 days its been raining. Anyways idk if its because of the rain but i was looking up close at it and its starting to turn like yellowish around where the bondo was put at. Its in excellent condition other than the yellow rising. Painters or anyone who knows what it is, what went wrong or can give me advise let me know!

I did mine myself and haven't had any problems. If the only problem you have is in the bondo area, then chances are it has to do with the bondo. maybe it hadn't dried all the way? Idk. i did mine over the course of a week or two so it had plenty of time to dry.

i let the clear dry like 2 days, and the bondo like 1 day or so before i primed it

 

Is the bondo sunken or popping out? How many coats of primer did you use?

you didn't let the bondo driy enough and sounds like you used a cheap paint.

PS you shouldn't use bondo. It's ____ty and will crack in time.

 

^Then what do you suggest using? As far as filler goes.
And no i didnt i used OEM Super white paint from automotivetouchup

 

polyester filler. MAKE SURE you used the correct amount of hardener. Use to little and it wont dry, use to much and it will crack.

 

So what do you suggest i do to the garnish i have on at this point to fix it? The oem one i had on there ima do the same to. But i wanna fix the one i have on there.

 

take a chisel and take out as much bondo as you can and then start over. Make sure you let the coats dry for a good amount of time in good hot weather befor reinstalling.

 

I thought automotive paint was water proof , how would it be able to soak through to the bondo?
