Default Silver Carbon Fiber Hood

Has anyone ever seen a Silver (or any other color-matched) carbon fiber hood? I'm thinking of looking for a silver one for my car..

I honestly don't care much for a dark hood on a light-colored car, and I'm thinking of replacing my hood because it's so covered with chips.

I think a silver CF hood on a SSM tC would look hot.

If anyone has any pictures of a silver CF hood that'd be most appreciated (PS I did already google this and found a website selling colored CF hoods-- http://www.importprecision.com/carbo...d_color_cf.htm)

I think that's the route I'd go if I got one. I'd want a sleeper.

But then if I got CF, I'd want the hood pins to be sure it's secure. And if it was a color matched CF hood, the hood pins would look retarded... so... ya.

Is it necessary to have the hood pins? I thought I'd seen quite a few cars with CF hoods and no pins... I guess its just an extra security measure.. but yea i'd really like to see some pics of a silver car with a silver CF hood!!

I don't think it's absolutely necessary, but I think it's usually recommended just in case. Obviously not everyone installs them though - most of the pics I've seen don't actually have them.

I'd ask bbist. He sells the fiberfx double sided ones.

I seem to recall him saying the pins were recommended, and actually came with the hoods, but don't hold me to that

Smash, the link you posted with the color CF hoods, I believe their silver one is a tC hood coincidentally. Photoshop it on a silver car and see how'd it look.

Thanks. I just e-mailed them.

I'll also *attempt* to photoshop the silver CF hood from that webpage onto a silver tC.. don't know if the angle will allow it though.

I also want this for my car but b/c I love the contrast of carbon fiber on light cars and I think it would look sweet the other way around.

Actually that would be pretty cool looking... a silver CF hood on a dark-colored car. Hm.. interesting. BTW Motor FX just e-mailed me back and said they can do a Silver Carbon Fiber hood for the tC for $475 for SL members. Hell of a deal but I'm asking if they have any pictures of silver CF hoods they've produced first.. I'd like to see the damn thing before I drop $500 + on it ya know?

Smash, you may want to check out racing solutions. their hood is $299, not sure about silver availibility/pricing.

also, contact info for a bbist dealer:

http://www.robearracing.com
909-982-4927
or just profile: www.scionlife.com/?robear

doesn't matter to me who you buy from of course,
I just like to make sure people are aware of their options so they can get the best deal for themselves

The Bbist ones are double-sided? I'd rather have that, obviously, but has anyone ever seen the Bbist CF hoods fitted on a tC? I know some months back (dont know what brand) that didn't fit correctly on the car and looked like crap...

I'll go PM them anyway..

yeah bbist are all double sided....and if IIRC correctly the std (black) CF's are either $350 or $400 for SL members.

Also, I seem to remember reading that *all* CF hoods have some fitment issues, from one of the posts on here. They shouldn't have anything terrible, but say, 1/8th inch gap on one of the corners. Lemme see if I can find that article... I know my memory is good, but I'd rather be sure before I tell you something that might discourage you
