So i'm thinking about smoking my headlights but i'm curious, if I get HIDs would the smokeyness make them seem noticeably dimmed?

also what would be the best way to smoke them myself? thanks guys

 

How about overlays? If you don't like how it turns out then remove them.

 

yeah, i saw those on ebay somewhere but i didn't think they would work that great.

 

why would you wanna Darken ur headlights?....U wont be able to see at night time...Even w/ HID's.....LoL

Just paint the Inner housing of the headlight Blk.

 

i don't want them to be completely smoked, i think that a darker headlight would look nice.

TeeCizzle has a good point....it will dim them...AND I dont know a single state where it IS legal to tint headlamps...tails yes..but heads...is a no go, ticket for sure.

just do it, its been done before, and if its not too dark HIDs will still be good enough to see out of, and it could look good.

well with the 05 & 06 front lenses it is possible to tint them as they dont have the contours that the 07+ tC's do... I just noticed that you're in CO too... I have spoken to the police here in regards to the the CO state laws... and it was stated to me that The rears can be tinted so long as they can be seen reasonably well 300 ft. back at night...and the fronts can ONLY have clear film on them for protection... So if you tint the fronts....just be prepared that at some point you may very well get stopped and/or fined for it. thats all.

 

i searched a bit but it keeps matching up smoked and lights with smoked tail lights. i was just curious if anyone has tried it and would like to talk about them

 

I smoked the tails on my 06 tC....but havent done it yet on my 08...so Im pretty familiar with the process.

 

how did you do it? the spray on thing or like an overlay

 

I did yellow tint on the headlamps of my 06.... gave it a cool Euro look.... but I ended up taking it back off because it was not optically clear at night... and it really reduced the vision of my headlamps at night. If the color of the GLASS of the lens is made that way then it will be optically clear...but film/tinting just F's it up...trust me...so you're not out the cash when you get ____ed that you can't see worth a damn at night.

 

NEVER spray it.... only do high quality 3M lens film.... that way if you get tired of the look or move somewhere that it's illegal you can just remove it without any damage to the lenses....and not have to fork out cash to replace them.

yeah dont get me wrong....any type of tint on the headlamps...yellow, blue....smoked... looks totally sick....but it is a SOB to see through at night.
