The part about using filler to fill such a large void is not opinion. It will warp and crack over time. I was just trying to be nice and help you in that area. I am no body man, but I know enough (and have worked with laquer paints and finishes, solid surface counter tops, etc in non-automotive applications) to know where and when body filler is appropriate. You fill those voids with something else solid, then use the filler to fill in the seams and small gaps.
If you dont mind having to redo that later, then go ahead, but since you say you are repainting your whole car I figured you would want to do it right the first time.

gap needed filled with a epoxy polymer after using adhesion promoter, then sanded smooth as you can get then body filler used,it should last the way it is for a while though......but not best way to do it......first hot day on bumpy road and it will crack.

I filled in the Hole with a peice of metal i cut out then put the bondo it sorta was just like a couple seams i filled in.. BUt honestly i have seen alot of good work done with bondo in larger applications. i guess if its done right it will last a long time.. Just depends how its applied!
