Ok so im def saving up for tinted windows.. but i just dont know anything when it comes to them... so im wondering if any1 out there can educate me on them and tell me where to get them.... im looking for the darkest windows you can buy.. like limo tint so no one can see me and i dont want just the film that you can buy... i want like the real window... if thats possible... so tell me what you think and tell me where i shud get them.. i live in farmington connecticut by the way...

 

I don't believe they make a real window for the tC for any of the windows when it comes to tinting... it'd be a waste of money anyways, as the films out there now days are incredible and super resilient.

for in the ballpark of 200 or so, you can get all your windows tinted as light or as dark as you wish, and most shops offer lifetime warranties, so you don't need to worry about fading or peeling, discolouring... ever.

Yea, On my Honda civic hatch...I had Limo on rear, 25% rear windows, 15% on fronts...Got pulled over and got a Fix-It Ticket!!!....Doh!!!!!.....I dont care for tint now...Eventhough everybody tells me to Tint mine since I have a FM...Oh Well!!

 

35% max for legal tint, but if you can find someone that'll do it beyond that, then ur good to go. That only applies to the front windows tho, u can go darker on your rear side windows.

I have 20% all around. Haven't gotten bugged by the cops yet, but I have to roll them down if I need to park in tight spots at night just to make sure I won't whack anything ;)

 

What would be the difference from Buying a Limo Window and having Limo Tint ?? Your just making more work for yourself and spending more money as well. Especially if you want to get all your windows "Limo style." Stick to tint. Im pretty sure it'll work just as well. Plus if you post that you got purchased Limo Style for your TC you'll just get flamed for it. Hehe

 

Glass that is permantly colored, like in the xB, does not exist for a tC. You can't order and unless you got probably 20 or 30 grand, you aren't going to get it made either. It simply doesn't exist. Window film is going to be your only option. Using 5% all the way around is also illegal in every single state in the country. And if you really are 16, it's an incredibly stupid idea. You may THINK you're Capt. Excellent Driver. You're not. Nothing personal, just part of being 16. Besides, why do you REALLY want film that dark?? You're not ugly are you?

 

Dont get limo. I live in CT too and the darkest you can go i believe is 25% If any darker the cops can and will pull you over and give you a $168 fine. Then you have to go to the DMV and have them remove it. Also dont get the windows just get the tint and i recomend not doing it yourself. The way it needs to be done is time consuming and tedious. At most shops they will have a machine cut the tint for you for each car. Im getting my car done for $150 for everything.

 

Limo's just asking for trouble. Easy ticket for the cops.

 

DOT. presidential tint in the rear is fine...but dont go darker than 25% in front.

 

^ I all depends on which state your are in... Oregon and California are lame for tint laws.

 

NY state is 75% darkest I think :-\. I'm probably gona go with 20 or 25%. Cops don't really care about tint here(as long as u don't have like 5% all around that is). Every other car has tinted windows. I think i should be fine doin 20-25 all around except Windshield.

 

To answer your questions:
- You can get your windows tinted at any autoshop that says they tint windows. Go to yellowbook.com to find a shop in your area. You can call for estimates but it will most likely be somewhere around $200. You can get them as dark as you want, but I wouldn't go darker than 20%. Depending on where you live, it may get an assload of tickets if your tints are too dark. Usually they won't pull you over if its 25% or higher -- at least in my experiences.

I got a permit from my eye doctor that says I can have my tints as dark as i want because my eyes are sensitive to the light (not really, but I lied and said that it was hard for me to drive with the intense sun in michigan.)

 

my tint is %5 in the backs and %15 on the driver and passenger side. I havent got bugged yet about them, but only time will tell. Anything can happen it just all depends on what the cops really care about in your area.

Also tho if no 1 minds, let me know how you get that eye permit thing. Do you just goto the eye doctor and say i have sensitive eyes and the doc hands over a permit??

Is there a site around maybe I can look and see how some % compare to others? I was planning on getting tint this weekend but I dont know how say 30% compares to 50% or limo tint on the hatch compared to something else.

Even if any of you guys can share you car pics and say the % of the tint, thatd be really helpful. Thanks alot!

i had 20% in my 2gen eclipse, which has about the same amount of glass space as a tC (imo)

it was too freakin dark to drive at night safely, and i curbed it a few times.
