There was a good thread on one of these conversions I remember reading. Can't find it at the moment though.

i found it cheap at a local yard for !00bucks and was considering it, as well as the steel wheels w/tires and hus for another hundred to run while my wheels were getting powdered coated

The spec moonroof is much lighter than the base sunroof. Have a friend handy when you're about to take it off. Be prepared to struggle with the headliner. When you take your sunroof off let me know how much you want for it, i'll buy it from you. If you have any questions let me know.

Yep, that would be my thread NYNCTC linked you to earlier. LED swap sucks like the dickens....the roof swap is much easier.

I just don't see what you're gaining by getting a cf roof besides the look but the glass is essentially the same, the look. Is that half a tenth of a second going to make that much of a difference. Get the spec roof, you're still losing weight.

There was a good discussion of this in one of the other threads about the Kami roof. Honestly if I had the money and didn't mind jumping autox classes I would be all over that roof. Even the fiberglass one. A 40-50 lb weight savings on the highest point in the car will make a HELL of a difference. RAAMaudio was saying it was one of the best mods he ever did to his tC.

I realize the spec roof is lighter than the regular one... but I don't think there's really a comparison.

I guess, if you're into that AutoX and acing stuff it works, i'm not into either so it does absolutely nothing for me.

Oh, not to mention that if I jumped into SM with that roof, I could take out my rear seats for even more savings!

You're absolutely right. If you're not doing any race, going with the Kami roof is pointless... unless you get the CF and just want to say you have more CF than anyone... hehe. But I've heard it has a coat of black paint or something on it on the outside anyway.

honestly i say dont waste your money the weight isnt worth the hassle unless your hardcore about racing ....its a little bit quieter no more creaks but its still glass id say invest in the cf one or just leave the one u have.....
